Found this while scrolling through Billboard issues at World Radio History. This is probably a hope to do another solo LP, but Robert was Carl's partner for the 1985 LP. He met him back in 1982 I believe when Robert was in the band RPM. He is best known for writing "Where Does My Heart Beat Now", which was a major hit for Celine Dion.

Also for a solo LP, though Chip and Carl go WAAAYYY back. He was one of the guys that rented out Carnegie Hall in 1971 for the Beach Boys comeback.

Chip was Carl’s personal manager for a time in the 1980s as well

Found this while scrolling through Billboard issues at World Radio History. I believe this was mentioned on Beach Boys Talk when Robert was a guest on the show. IIRC, what was recorded were more like demos.

The group RPM with Carl and Jerry Schilling in 1982. Robert is wearing the Panama hat and sunglasses.

I have to wonder who has these session tapes other than Robert. Matt and Greg are saying they have heard "You Oughta Know", complete. It's an okay track in the contemporary groove Carl wanted to go in the late eighties. Did he play it for Mike during the SIP sessions? That album sure was starving for originals.
Don't know if Iconic controls and has possession of demo sessions by Carl. Seems to me his kids might have some interesting stuff (not wrapped in tin foil) Carl would have had at his house. Music he didn't share with The Beach Boys/Mike. Al, too. Did he turn over what he has? Doubt it. He likes to tinker with what he has. You know, Endless Harmony Gold for 2024. lol.
Going outside what Carl left behind, more of the same that was used to create the 2012 album. Brian and Joe's tapes. Did Joe turn those over? Doubt it.

I would have liked to have seen some Carl originals on Still Crusin'. I know it was supposed to be songs from soundtracks, but there were only 3 new songs from soundtracks. They should have had more new songs and ditched the 3 oldies.

Here you go (with major thanks to runnersdialzero ): CARL WILSON interview/ May Fair Hotel, London, Sept. 8, 1989 LK [??]: Are you happy to be back with Capitol? Carl: It's a good business move. I hope it works out all right. LK: Why only five new songs on Still Cruisin'? Carl: I wanted more new songs. Capitol only wanted three, we managed to get five. LK: Why didn't you include songs like "Chasin' The Sky", which also were on film soundtracks? Carl: No, that's CBS material, and they have the right to it a few more years. A new Caribou compilation album may come out soon. LK: Why didn't you write any songs for Still Cruisin'?
Carl: I did write one, with Phil Goldstein, but I wasn't satisfied with the way it turned out in the studio.beachboysopinion.blogspot.com/2013/05/intriguing-1989-carl-wilson-interview.html

I wonder if it was Run Don’t Walk?Yes of course -- Goldstein was a mistranscription of Galdston! So it could well have been "RDW". According to EH poster hydra, "Run Don't Walk is a song that was apparently briefly worked on in 1989 * by Carl Wilson and Phil Galdston and ended up on the Beckley Lamm Wilson album, 'Like A Brother'." [ Source] * 1988? See May of that year in AGD's "Shows & Sessions"

I had that interview i got late ‘80’s or very early ‘90’s. A collector i traded with at the time had a typed copy of the interview from london. His name is Gary Virts. Lived around Washington DC. About 11 years ago i added this to a conversation on smileysmile board. I didn’t have a printer yet. Lost mine in the fire. Sent a copy via fax to chris woods. Runners retyped it for smileysmile. I added some of the beginning of that letter after runners uploaded it. Can’t believe that has been almost 11 years now. Wow.

It didn’t keep them from the more than occasional turd, while it did keep them from more adventurous projects (Paley album, live PS). A Still Cruisin’ BB recording of Walk Don’t Run couldn’t have been whimper than the released one.
