Hey everyone! 👋 I’m a long time member of The Beach Boys subreddit but new to EH, so I figured I’d share a little about me and how I got into the boys.
As someone who has always listened to a lot of older music, I was always familiar with quite a few of the Beach Boys hits and liked most of them, but I was definitely more of just a casual fan. (I was much more into the Beatles growing up) Then a few years ago I started to discover some more songs on albums such as Today and Sunflower, and as I continued to like more music from them it led me to want to further explore their discography and learn more about the band’s history, (which has been quite the rabbit hole to go down lol) and now at 22 years old I can say that there is pretty much nothing that I am more passionate and knowledgeable about than The Beach Boys and their music. (NASCAR is the only other thing that I’m as obsessed with lol, but I’ve been into racing for a much longer time) Since getting into the band I’ve also had the opportunity to see all of the living members live including Brian, (which I’ll always be thankful for, as had I gotten into the band just a little later I would have never had the chance) and I also own quite a few Beach Boys related items such as books, shirts and vinyl records (including two that I have signed) While I’m also super into a lot of other bands and artists from the 60s-80s such as the Beatles (and their solo stuff), ELO, Supertramp and Abba, I’m confident in saying that The Beach Boys will always be my favorite of them all, and I’m sure I’ll still be listening to them many years from now.
Besides all of that I feel I should also mention that I’m into quite a few of The Beach Boys shows and channels that I’m sure many of you enjoy. The Beach Boys Talk podcast is a favorite of mine, as are The Beach Boys Basement channel and a few others over on YouTube. It’s great seeing how many people are so passionate about The Beach Boys, and I feel like I’m always learning something new about the band, even after all of the books and stories I’ve read.
Lastly, to share a few of my favorite Beach Boys songs and albums, it’s so hard to choose because I love so much of their music, but if I had to pick a handful of songs I’d say God Only Knows, Don’t Talk, All I Wanna Do, Please Let Me Wonder and Disney Girls are big favorites of mine, and as for albums it’s also very tough to choose but I’d say Sunflower and Love You are my top two, followed closely by Surf’s Up and Pet Sounds.
If you made it through all of this thank you so much for reading, and I’m looking forward to talking with you all on here!

Welcome to the board.👍 I finally joined here last year, after lurking this and other BB boards for ages. Yes, there is always new stuff to learn about the band. There are a handful of decent books but IMO, sadly, no one great, all-encompassing band bio that covers the entire saga. Very unfortunate that such a book wasn't written by the time of their 25th Anniversary, when many of the participants were still alive and probably way more willing than now to talk about their experiences with the group. Can't argue with the majority of your fave BB songs and albums...those are rock-solid. 👍 Wondering if you also like any songs from M.I.U or LA.

And yeah I agree with you about there not really being a comprehensive book on the boys, although there are a few really great ones. (I personally really like Catch A Wave and The Beach Boys in Concert, which is absolutely essential if you’re interested in the band’s concerts and touring history) And yes I actually like quite a few songs from MIU and LA! On MIU I really enjoy Pitter Patter, My Diane, Winds of Change, and Match Point of Our Love. (which has actually been one of my most streamed songs on Spotify the past couple years lol) And then on LA I love Good Timin’, Lady Lynda, Full Sail and Baby Blue, but even some of the lesser liked tracks on there like Sumahama I can still enjoy haha
