Hi all,
Summer has been great. There are a lot of activities to do. For fun this summer I went to art walks, baseball games followed by fireworks, wine trail, Tioga Downs for harness racing, and I saw fireworks on the Fourth of July. I also sunbathed, walked outdoors twice daily, and went to Ithaca/Cornell.
What are all of you doing this summer?
Mary

Hi Mary,
We've just come back from a week's holiday on an island off the north coast of NL. From now on we'll be taking odd day trips. We have a day at a classical music festival coming up soon. We just hope it doesn't get too darn hot!

The Mrs. and I went to London (first time we ever left North America!) and had an AMAZING time (and got to have lunch with the legendary AGD!). Shortly after we got back, we went to San Diego for an extended relaxy weekend (and pigging out on burritos from Mike's Taco Club). Other than that, for me I've been working (at home, thankfully!), wife has been spending a LOT of time at the beach - she's a teacher and off for the summer (but goes back Monday). Also saw not one but two performances of the stage musical version of Tommy in Chicago -- it is AWESOME. They're looking to get a national tour and a Broadway residency going; if they do get this going, SEE IT. Before the first act was even over I decided I needed to see it again.
Got to see Chicago in concert at an outdoor venue called Ravinia in Highland Park, just north of Chicago. Always love seeing them there. I've seen Chicago at Ravinia, in Milwaukee, and in Tinley Park, IL...where have I *not* seen them? Chicago. *shrug*
(For a second I thought this thread was going to be about the book by Jeanne Thornton, which my wife and I are in the midst of reading!)

The same thought occurred to me too! I bought Summer Fun after JT posted about it across the road, fuelled by my online friendship with a trans woman, and planned to read it on while on holiday last year. I read part one but gave up soon after that -- it felt to me as though it were exclusively aimed at a trans readership. I still have it, so maybe I'll reconsider and get back to it. I'll be most interested to hear what you and your wife think of it!

We both find it very strange...not in a bad way necessarily, just...unusual, especially how it's laid out. (And we already reached out to Jeanne about having her on Tune X some time!)

After moving to North Bend, WA a couple of years ago, I drive to a different location every day for a hike. When I lived in Los Angeles, California, I used to be able to drive to the doctor or the store in 20 minutes, but I had to drive 4 to 6 hours to camp and hike in the forest, or sit by a mountain stream and read. Now I drive 20 minutes or less to hike in the forest, or 30 seconds to my own forest stream to read. Of course, now I have to drive 30 to 45 minutes to go shopping or to the doctor, but that's the trade off. I stopped going to concerts during the pandemic, and now I just prefer to watch them at home on YouTube or DVD. Same with movies.
