I was wondering who the most evil person was in the history of the group?
The nominees are:
Murry Wilson:For being an abusive sociopath with a slight sense of entitlement Eugene Landy:For being a quack who almost destroyed Brian Wilson’s head Charles Manson:For being a murderous lunatic Phil Spektor:For being a looney with a bad taste in fashion who failed to appreciate the fact that Brian is more talented than him Mike Love:For being Mike Love Various record executives:For rejecting solid material and killing of SMiLE and Adult/Child amongst other things Various people who contributed to Stars and Stripes:This entry concerns a number of people who different things. Most notably, there is the idiot who left off the beautiful rendition of “In My Room” featuring the final ever recording of the old dearie who sang it with Brian. In addition to this, the lead singer of Sawyer Brown is included for sounding like he is climaxing with every damn syllable, and forgetting that the rest of his band exists.
Do enjoy…
(I voted for Mike!)

Yeah Murry was overbearing but, he cared. Landy was just an ahole.

Everybody on the list at least contributed directly to the band in a very real and profound way, except Charles Manson and Phil Spector. I can’t see that they actually worked with or for the band. (Recording one of their songs doesn’t count).

Not on the list anywhere, but the biggest evils in Beach Boys history are mental illness, drug abuse, and cancer.

"evil" - profoundly immoral and wicked.
Someone needs to brush up on their English comprehension.

(Recording one of their songs doesn’t count). It is such a mixed bag. Landy I was helpful. Landy II was psycho. Murry got them in the door. It is inarguable. No one is wholly bad - that just dismisses the human condition of redemption to which we are all entitled. But, I'd argue for the substances/cigarettes and poor mental health care as the real villains in the story. Stuff that was beyond their control. Dennis drank his stress and Carl inhaled his. And, a function of the era they grew up in. Or the dysfunction that resulted. Everyone has baggage. Some just hide it better.

I would go with Joe Thomas, I don’t trust his motives and he got too involved

If I had voted in this pole, it would have been Manson, a monster with no redeeming qualities. Spector at least had some musical talent. I do believe the Wilson's father loved his sons, he just didn't know how to show it. He didn't exactly have an easy upbringing, either. Landy did a lot of good for Brian, but greed got in the way. Yeah, the S&S gang. What a wasted opportunity. You've got Brian, Mike, Carl, Al and Bruce together for the first time in years, and they blow it on this stupid country covers project. I like country music, but why all the Big Hat Boys? Willie was great, but where was Merle? Cash? Tammy? A wasted opportunity.

Comment: If you ask me, I must add to the list and nominate those people that broke the mind of Brian Wilson; who irresponsibly led Brian down the pathway of heavy drug use -- the multiple use of heavy drugs at the same time -- the continual use of heavy drugs without any break back to reality. By heavy drugs I mean drugs that alter your perception of real-time-existence and replace the cognition and awareness of your relationship to reality with an alternative, filled with demons and doubts over which you have no control. Those douche bags that did this to Brian, robbed him not only of his future creativity, but most of the civilized world of enjoyable music that could have been. ~swd

I mean, I have ideas...but some of the people that were accused of doing this have denied doing it.

Up until around the time of death, they were bragging about how "effective their interventions" were. That should help the process of elimination. I'm not thinking about someone living.
