There are a number of ways to listen to the box set other than purchasing the CD's or vinyl. You can stream it on Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube Music (which has a free option with commercials) or Amazon Music. Or you can progressively download the set at your leisure using with iTunes or Qobuz (if you want it in lossless quality). The whole thing is definitely worth listening to. You read my mind! I have youtube (the regular freebie) on my phone as well as the downloaded (and computer ported) tracks and it is the go-to when I get in the car. I do love the Carnegie tracks a lot. 🎶 Downloads, streaming, downloads, streaming....I think I'm gonna dump my physical collection NOW, while I can still get a few pennies for it. Tired of trying to swim upstream. The younger generation, the generation of convenience has spoken. I wonder how much all this streaming and downloading will cost me compared to vinyl, cd, cassette, 8 track? I can't believe I spent 50 years collecting all this sh-stuff, only for it to end up worthless, valueless. I was hoping to pass it down to my kids someday.

It is always fun to tell them that you paid 3 bucks and they are paying 25. Mine got plenty of use, in the car, in the house, and wherever I happened to be. But now, for the extra tracks I get the download because the big box stuff is very expensive. The one exception is that I bought the C50 pack on ebay when the price went to half price and I got a hard copy of Sunshine Tomorrow. That was fun to find that in a store, smirk to myself that they were still in the stores, and waltz out with it in my hot little hands. 😂

It’s not the younger generation speaking - as usual, it’s the record companies and distributors using the cheapest format in order to maximise profits.

To heck with those bulky box sets, and especially vinyl records! Who needs liner notes and photos! Just give us the music, free! I ain't coughing up my hard earned dollars anymore to support some millionaires!

Just a heads up for those still hoping to find this at a far more reasonable price: German webshop jpc.de now offer a 59% discount on the 6CD deluxe boxset, so I've finally given in and purchased the set for €60. 👍

Well done, that’s a great price.
I think they also have the regular 2CD at €9.99.
At last!

Interestingly it says the price is €59.99 when you go to the page but I've only been charged €57.24 including shipping to the U.K.

Did the deed a while ago, cashing in as many deals and vouchers as I could! “Sail On Sailor 1972 has decreased from £103.13 to £102.72” Easing off the gas now, guys. Having accumulated various Amazon deals and having a fair few gift vouchers in the bank I pulled the trigger. Got the set for around £24 with free shipping, so am happy (though I could have been happier!). Still got to bide my time before opening it… whatever will Steph say?!?! Feel free to post price changes in my absence!

Amazon UK just dropped the 6CD set to £96.58, but that’s still very expensive compared to the JPC price.

Received my copy of the box set today and I'm so glad to finally own this physically. I remain annoyed that it took nearly a year for the set to reach a reasonable price and whoever was responsible for the pricing messed-up majorly - I for one would've been happy to pay up to £80 for it upon release and I suspect a great many others would have too. I've seen copies of the box in quite a few HMV's over the past year and they aren't shifting which is unsurprising given the £139.99 price tag. Chalk it up to another fuck-up in a career of fuck-ups from our beloved band. Fucking Beach Boys man, why couldn't I have become obsessed with a normal band?

I still purchase CDs and vinyl regularly and ultimately prefer that method. But for those of you who don't want to pay for the box set in full and just want to hear the damn thing then streaming or digital media is the viable option. Physical and digital/streaming media can coexist.

Amazon UK right now:
£58.01 & shipping for the 6CD box. That’s affordable.
