What do we know about that disease and is there any particular significance to someone getting that at his age or particular time in history
It was probably discussed here somewhere and pardon me for not knowing but I didn't realize that he and Johnny Depp had done an album that features a Beach Boys song and the Dennis Wilson song. I'm listening to time right now and in some ways it's very wonderful but it reminds you just how incredibly gifted Dennis was that's a vocalist however broken his voice was at that time.
The version of don't talk but your head on my shoulder is loving and inspired and quite brilliant. I wonder what Brian thinks of it and especially after the complicated collaboration that they were trying to have.

Shocking news indeed. Beck made playing the guitar look so easy and effortless, his technique so unique.

Jeff’s “Danny Boy” with that diamond cuff, would have made my Irish grandmother weep. RIP Jeff - Your music moved us.

For once, the use of the word "legend" is not only justified, it could be inadequate, for he truly was a guitar god. Inducting Jeff into the R&R Hall of Fame in 2009, Jimmy Page said this:
"He'd just keep getting better and better, and he leaves us, mere mortals".

Jeff always added a nice touch to any project he worked on. Personally, I collected his projects until the mid-seventies. Loved his albums with Rod and Nicky, but my very favorites, and the two I listen to most often, are Rough and Ready (1971) and Jeff Beck Group (1972) (the orange album). Both of those featured Max Middleton on keyboards and Bob Tench on vocals, with Cozy Powell on drums and Clive Chaman on bass. Just a powerhouse groove.
I mention those two because it really mattered who he picked to play with. Was thrilled when Brian came into the picture. Jeff did justice to the Brian music he took part in. Every one is worth searching out and owning. We'll see if more of that will find an official release.
I never thought much of Johnny Depp's music until this more recent work with Jeff. Somewhere around here is a thread where I and others posted videos. Many of us took notice. Jeff's love of Brian was forever.
Jeff was better than Eric and Jimmy in my opinion - the two guitarists he was most associated with. Jeff continued to be productive until the end. He left the stage with fans wanting more. He will not be forgotten.
rest in peace, brother.
