Hello, With the new start for this forum, I'm thinking about running the daily poll I've been running on several forums all over again here. I'd like to know what you think about it. I'll run this poll until New Year's Eve, so please feel free to vote and if more people want it I'll kick it off on New Year's Day.

I would suggest continuing with the solo recordings as you were doing on PSF.
Then I think moving on to Brian's outside songwriting and production work (The Honeys, Jan and Dean, Sharon Marie etc.)

Sorry to bother you all, but please be sure to vote again.

I would like to have a new song-to-song polls like it was on PSF, we have to re-create a "database" of informations here. But if the admins can import stuff from the old forum it would be better.

I'm fine with either starting over or picking up where we left off. But I do very much like the idea of having the full day-by-day from the beginning on record... so I'm casting my vote that-a-way.

I’m always cool with song by song discussion as I’m a contrary fellow over time, and I like to check where my head is at every now and then.
However, day by day is too frequent an interval for me. Three days to weekly is better.

Maybe we could start with song-by-song discussion for Friends/20-20 sets before we begin to start from the beginning, in case it's what people want.
Also, if you guys prefer, I'm all for slowing it down or waiting to see who will join us in the future.

How about doing the new stuff first, and then going back? There are all those tracks from the new releases, RPO, etc. that have really not been discussed and asking for Alan, Mark or others involved, to jump in with the back story...

I really hope Alan and Mark will join this board! Not all the tracks need or even would have a backstory - but there are certain ones that must been runners-up for inclusion on the various albums at the time.

Another shot? Yes please. I missed out on much of the fun the first time round by prevaricating about joining PSF. Silly me.

Here's the result of the poll (it expired a day earlier than written in the original post...sorry ): Yes, Please - 12 votes No, I'd prefer Wata continue with current poll - 7 votes No, I've had enough - 0 vote So, we'll take another shot at Beach Boys song-by-song discussion. Stay tuned!! But...in what way would you like me to do it (the interval, what to discuss, and other stuff)? Please share your thoughts!!

It would be nice if it was day by day. There's too many Beach Boys songs, if we give each song, say, 2 days, it'll get way too long, people might get restless waiting for results.

Yeah, I’d like if you did it the same way it was done on PSF.

Okay, here's the outline of the song-by-song poll:
*One day per one song (it'd take three years if we went with two days per one song, and I'm afraid that'd be too long.)
*Before the one for the whole discography, we'll do a song-by-song poll for '68 copyright extension release in a separate thread. (I assume there's enough interest in discussing these tracks)
*The usual song-by-song poll for BB's whole discography follows, but all the backing tracks/live recordings will be excluded (So no I Don't Know, Honey Get Home or Let's Live Before We Die unlike the last one on PSF.
*However, I will pick up unofficially circulating outtakes that's finished enough to rate. (Stevie and Carry Me Home for instance)
If there is no objection, I'll kick off the poll by this weekend.

Thanks for the update info, Wata. Agree with each point.

IIRC - we have done no live albums but covered all the studio albums. I thought covering the studio stuff was pretty intense - I did enjoy it a lot, looking at each track but there is a lot going on in the live albums and songs that are not on the studio albums. That is at least a year of instant replay (for me.) It just seems a huge waste of no analysis, to not cover albums like the '64 or '73/'74 in concert or Knebworth and the newer stuff. The live stuff is a good comparison to the studio stuff that was already done-to-death. JMHO.

I vote for discussing the live albums too. If we throw in all the copyright protection releases, that's a lot of live music to discuss.

At least the official live albums should be discussed. They are always left out.
