Post your favorite examples. Here's mine:
1. This fun clip features my [and George Jones's] favorite female country singer and Jimmy Dean, the other popular country singer [popularizer even?], of Jimmy Dean Foods fame:
2. John Denver had written this song as the special gift for Sylvie's wedding [which proved to be successful, her second marriage]. I think they sound terrific:
3. Here's John singing the chorus of GV with Karen Carpenter, again really wonderful mesh of voices which complement one another:

I've always liked Tom Petty and Stevie Nicks ("Stop Dragging My Heart Around" "Insider" "Needles and Pins"). I saw the Heartbreakers at MSG in '06. Stevie joined them for about 1/3 of the set.

Jack Jones and Shirley Bassey - two of the greatest singers and voices in popular music history. Please stay with this video until the end. True artistry. Classic performance. And both Jack and Shirley are still alive and performing today!

Hello. Look forward to hearing what you bring next, jk. Since you ask... This is so strange--and so touching. Who would have thought it? Lee Hazelwood and Nancy Sinatra created something really special with "Some Velvet Morning". (Slowdive do a great cover version.) en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Some_Velvet_MorningFor contrasting singing styles and voices, Nancy and Lee had a great chemistry. "Some Velvet Morning" is my favorite of theirs, but they recorded some other excellent duets, too.

SJS - I like Jack Jones, he used to be guest panelist and mystery guest in "What's My Line" TV game. He's got cool voice, speaking and singing.

Sheriff, I remember you posting this at PSF-- and I remember watching it until the end! I also remember surprising you by being familiar with two of JJ's songs: "The Race Is On" and "Wives And Lovers". As I was posting the video, I was thinking about you and if you would remember it!
I just finished, no, actually I'm STILL enjoying Jack Jones' Christmas music. His 1964 Kapp album, The Jack Jones Christmas Album is a great one.

This is cool duet featuring good-voiced Shakin' Stevens and new to me singer Bonnie Tyler [she's got thick voice which fits better to punk rock but in Bonnie's case it fits here too]. Despite the violins/ string scattered thru the entire song including the tag with 10-note roling repeats [some fans of it would really enjoy to hear it ], I jolly like this song, it's catchy to bits, cool, fun, with cool rhythm. Enjoy.

I was trying to come up with some introduction to this clip but I couldn't come up with enough superlatives. Just watch and enjoy these two artists work their magic, that's all...

Not sure if it's a duet in the standard sense as this was a brother/sister act that basically always sang together. I remember the Donny and Marie version from when I was a kid but this one reigns. In any case this song has been in my head for a few weeks and I love these old 60's clips.

One of my favorite songs, and a criminally overlooked one. Its from Rocky 1 and for better or worse it's very understated in the film itself. It plays in the background during Rocky and Adrian's first kiss as though from a radio in the background.

Just found this fun cover - ''Walk Right Back'' by Glen Campbell and Bobbie Gentry. It manages to be less sad musically than the other versions.

There's youtube vid with Judy Garland singing duets with her daughter Liza Minnelli in 1964. Type "1964 liza judy garland", it's cool show.

Call me a sentimental fool, but I have a soft spot for the song "Don't Know Much" by two of my favorite singers, Aaron Neville and Linda Ronstadt.
And I also enjoy the Judy/Liza duets.

Real singing talents Cilla Black and Dana, Eurovision's charming 1st Irish winner [1970], sing Karen Carpenter at Cilla's:
2 favorites sing special favorite = very good but Karen did it the best.

Whilst youtubing, get to this nice mellow song by 1980s UK band Oasis (I said the 19*80s* ) that disbanded soon when the debut album been out. Anybody knew this band back then? The line-up includes Peter Skellern and Mary Hopkin. They sing duet. The cello brings classical music air to it. Beautiful duet, save cheesy synth noises akin to loon yell with cutesy rain dots. Check it to soothe ears:

Led Zeppelin's "The Battle Of Evermore" has Mr Plant duetting with the incomparable Sandy Denny, who I was lucky enough to catch in Amsterdam with Fairport Convention in, I think, 1975: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Battle_of_Evermore

Yep, "You've Lost" is great, classic. Since you mention same-gender (cool idea btw), John Denver-Richard Carpenter fun villagers duet is next thing I like. Boyce-Hart (few nice songs) Ryan twin brothers (preceding split, i.e. 1st brother sings, the other writes songs) Peter & Gordon (nice songs save Del Shannon cover who sang it best)

I don't know that one so I looked for it but couldn't find it. So here are JD and Karen C mixing "Coming Through The Rye" with "Good Vibrations"!

I tend not to look through threads before posting--perhaps I should. That's hilarious! Thanks, BBF. Tragic to have lost Karen and John way too soon.

Prompted by pendlewitch's Neil/Shirley video earlier today, this is oldcomer Sir Tom Jones duetting with newcomer Celeste on a ska version of "Blue Moon" on Jools Holland's Hootenanny on New Year's Eve/Day. My wife who was watching with me exclaimed, "He's flirting!" I'll let you be the judge of that: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Celeste_(singer)

If Helen Terry shared background vocal duties on Culture Club's debut album, Kissing to Be Clever (1982), she took on a much more prominent role on next year's follow-up, Colour by Numbers. You can hear her soulful voice alongside that of Boy George on "Black Money", among many great tracks: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Helen_Terry
