We too are still governed by the British in Australia, so we lose her too. Terribly sad news. She was an incredible woman. I saw her briefly in my home town as a young lad back in the 80's, and was arms reach from her. I've always been a fan of her being and her contribution. Nobody will ever fill her shoes the same way, she's the last of her kind. Always well spoken, and always had the right words to say. I will miss her on this sad day.

Sad news.
Adds to the enormity of the current transition the world is going through.

A truly remarkable lady.
Doubtful if any successor will even come close to her achievements.
And thus once again the cry that has echoed down the centuries, "The Queen is dead, long live The King!"

This was intimated several times this evening on BBC TV ("We will never see her like again") and I can believe that. As a measure of the sheer length of her reign, her first Prime Minister, Winston Churchill, and her last, Liz Truss (appointed by Her Majesty a mere two days ago), were born 101 years apart! A great lady -- may she rest in peace.

Monday's funeral procession to Windsor was of a calibre you experience maybe once or twice in a lifetime (I was too young to recall anything of Churchill’s funeral). We just sat there stunned.
The only "event" I would respectfully compare it to was the jaw-dropping opening ceremony of the 2012 London Olympics. Only the Brits can accomplish something of this quality.
This was one of the pieces sung during the service at Westminster Abbey, James Macmillan's anthem Who Shall Separate Us from the Love of God, which was specially composed for the occasion:

This is the Queen's final funeral procession from Westminster Abbey to Wellington Arch (the rest of the journey to Windsor was by car).
The solemn intermittent clang of Big Ben seemingly synchronized with the cannon shots, the trance-inducing thump of the bass drum (if it was more than one, they had incredible timing!), funeral marches by Beethoven, Chopin and Mendelssohn, to say nothing of the mind-numbing visual spectacle, all in a "golden thread of history, heritage and tradition"... it was an overwhelming experience whose like we will surely never see again:
