Just heard on the radio that Brian is coming to the Rose Music Center in Dayton for... a Pet Sounds show. It looks like Pet Sounds really will be the never ending tour. I'm torn on if I should get tickets, but I might do it since I've skipped the past couple times he came somewhat near Cincinnati.

If he's going to keep on touring Pet Sounds, I wish he'd drop that "The Final Performances" nonsense.

I'm proud to say I caught Brian's never-ending Pet Sounds "final performance" tour during the actual 50th anniversary year of Pet Sounds. At least that part was authentic!

rosemusiccenter.com/events-tickets/event-list/event.html?event_id=154June 18th, and yep its "The Final Performances". To quote (with added boldness): “We are blown away by the reception of this tour,” says Wilson. “It’s unbelievable how many people love this album. The audiences have been so fantastic, and we are honored to play for them. We never expected this reaction, so we will continue to perform this album for people as long as they ask us to!”

So where do I submit a formal request for new solo material instead?

I can't imagine how boring it must be to have to play this entire album night after night for three years as these musicians involved have. Why can't they shake up the show? Break out the Baldwin, play "Smiley Smile" from start to finish, with "Airplane", "No Go Showboat" and "Custom Machine" as an encore? It would have to take something that unique in order for me to feel compelled to see this show again.

Albums are mere collections of songs most of the time. They are/were not finished works of art as such. There’s virtually no need to play albums in their entirety.
And there’s all sorts of unexplored or rarely-explored riches in the catalogue. The thing is: is Brian up to rehearsing new material? The Christmas stuff was supposed to liven up Brian (or so those who attended the Summer/Fall shows said). Yet, it didn’t.

What happened to the discussions of the surviving beach boys getting together to do some shows. Especially with poor beloved Dave going through health problems what this be the time to have all the 5 surviving beach boys together.

Especially with poor beloved Dave going through health problems what this be the time to have all the 5 surviving beach boys together. I very strongly doubt that will ever happen, but if it did it wouldn't be til summer 2020 at the earliest -- Mike and Bruce have tour dates announced through August this year, and they'd be unlikely to do any reunion shows in the autumn or winter. Being even semi-realistic about it, the best chance of anything happening would be for the sixtieth anniversary, in 2021 or 22 (depending on how they count the anniversary), assuming everyone is still able to tour then. But frankly I can't see it ever happening again.

But frankly I can't see it ever happening again. I agree wholeheartedly, and I can’t see Brian wanting to go out on tour for any kind of anniversary by 2022. A one-off in the near-distant might be manageable, healthwise, but it’d be an awful lot of prep work for a single show. It’d never pay back all the effort and expense incurred. The best hope for any reunion now might be an album, or a few songs at least, with each surviving member contributing their parts remotely, each slotting in some studio time as and when their touring schedules/family time/appointments with specialists (sorry, but let’s be realistic) permit. All very tenuous.

There seemed to be a glimmer of hope when they got together for the XM Sirius summit, but of course that was swallowed up by the ridiculous "shirt gate" thing, and any reunion talk cooled with the weather. Since both camps already have concerts on the books for 2019, I wouldn't expect anything in the immediate future, but you never know.

Do the scheduled concert dates for both camps extend into the Christmas season? I know it'll never happen but it doesn't keep me from constantly bringing it up ...but I really wish ALL of the guys could get together for a brief Christmas season tour (November and December), culminating in a big New Years' Eve concert. The guys wasted too many years when they could've been doing this; now they're pushing 80 and are probably past their "New Years' Eve celebrating" days, er...nights.

I wonder if they could be cajoled into appearing on Joolz Holland’s 2019/2020 new year BBC hootenanny? Filmed well in advance and one of TV’s biggest NY draws here in the U.K..

Mike accomodated his 2012 dates to make room for the reunion. If they wanted to, they could get together next year.

He should move on from Pet Sounds and do SMiLE again in its entirety for the next few years. THAT would surely drum up some publicity. Not as much as in 2004 of course, but some. AND, it might re-engage Brian's interest, to boot.
