I say this listening to Christopher Cross's Ride Like the Wind, a good track off a so-so album that I Oxfamed years back. You first, but let's limit it to five artists and I'm not asking for any justification because I'm not that kid of boy and it's not the fucking Hoff board. Let's be nice to each other; no point scoring.

For the last few months, I’ve been watching Foo Fighters, the live shows, and watching Taylor Hawkins stuff as well as some Beatles since Get Back came out. And The Stones, live shows. One of the few studio albums I listen to from another band, is Rubber Soul. I think it is their best work; it rocks, it’s simple and underrated among the whole psychedelic era stuff. These are just great unvarnished tracks. I think of it as their Pet Sounds.

I listen to a great many genres, but I always find myself coming back to the music I came of age to, primarily Santana, The Allman Brothers Band and the Grateful Dead.

Aside from the Beach Boys I am very much an avid collector and obsessive listener of soundtracks. Mostly Jerry Goldsmith, John Williams, Bernard Herrmann to name a few of my go-tos... Nick Drake is another constant companion.

Excellent idea for a thread, ed. Over the past few months, I've been listening to Russian Soviet-era synth pop by the likes of Alyans and Bioconstruktor; a lot of remixes, many by datawave pioneer Com Truise; minimal electronic music by Éliane Radigue and others; and, most recently, the music of Dutch contemporary classical composer Otto Ketting. My most-played albums of late have been Santana's Caravanserai and Surf's Up (just to show I haven't abandoned the Boys entirely ).

It varies, and I cross genres, and move back and forth. Anything from Classical to Hank 3 (cowboy Punk), but somewhere in the middle:
Frank Sinatra Waylon Jennings Travis (UK band) Johnny Cash The Shadows
Tough question!
