A Rant!....
Youtube videos are good and all...... but the constant begging people to become Patreon's is getting a bit 'old'. It's not like they don't leave their details and people can't follow, because everybody does, but when every video starts to become a 'sign up' and 'send me money' video, I'm about done with it. There's a guy here that posts on this forum that I like, and every video ends with a 'help me' with $$$ so I can make video's. I get it's a hard ass world out there, and everybody wants to find their place, but it gets a bit 'old' with this 'begging' technique. To me, it really devalues the creator when every other video is a plea. I've seen about 3 of these today from great content makers, and to be honest, it's starting to turn me off from watching. Some, I have donated to in the past too! I just wish people would just leave their pledging in the 'show more' under the video, because people 'GET IT' now that youtube is a way to make money and they are aware of donating, and sending money and superchats etc etc etc..... Just leave it out of the videos, because we get it!
Please STOP IT!

I've only donated once on a YT channel for what I considered to be a most valid reason. Joshilyn's laptop died on her in early 2020 and with it went the opportunity for her to make more video tutorials that explore Beach Boys songs in depth. The GoFundMe she set up enabled her to buy a new one equal to the task and the rest is etc. But yes, I do see where you're coming from, Rick -- it's like the record's stuck at times.

It's one thing to ask for help or assistance, and that's alright, with a little explanation, but some of these people... There's a channel I watch and have done so for quite a few years, I don't want to 'name and blame' the channel or the person, because it's only a personal 'beef'' I have, but it's a female electronics channel, and she is very smart and educated and her content for the most part is great, but then she gets onto her 'can't afford this', 'my patronage has declined a bit', 'i need to move house', 'this is my only income', 'youtube algorithms this and that', 'please subscribe', 'become a patron' bla bla bla..... I've donated quite a few hundred dollars at times to different YouTubers, because they gave me the entertainment and
knowledge I was looking for, and it's usually been for something like 'how to repair' where the youtuber has given me
detailed info on how to do something, just out of the goodness of their own heart! I do love my 'YouTube'. It just seems that a lot have turned into 'desperado's' and get on the begging train, and it turns me off...

With you on this, Rick. The only person I'm a patreon of on YouTube is Adam Marsland, because I've known him for decades (and have met twice: very nice guy), I love his music and his videos (especially the current Pet Squares series), appreciate why he relaocated to SE Asia and want to repay at least some of the pleasure his music and videos have given me. Some of the others... yeah.
