Thanks for that, Ed. Well now that we have a surf music thread (to complement the many hundreds of threads devoted to music about surfing (Steve McParland), let's make the most of it! These are The Original Surfaris (as opposed to the "Wipe Out" boys) with "Bombora": en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Original_Surfaris

How come there is two different ones??? One by "The Surfaris" and one by "The Original Surfaris" or what?

That is my absolutely favorite surf tune ever - that is, in the full version taken from the movie. It's not as clear sounding as this release but doesn't fade out, and it is a little sped up.

Ah... yours is in fact "Surfari", the B-side of "Bombora": The Surfaris (their name on the 45, * here*) later added "Original" to differentiate themselves from the other Surfaris of "Wipe Out" fame.

These are The Astronauts with "Firewater", originally released in 1964 on the soundtrack album Surf Party:

Yes indeed -- great stuff! This may be my own favourite, by a band who later morphed into The Turtles! These are The Crossfires with "Fiberglass Jungle", the B-side of their lone 1963 single under that name. That's either Mark Volman or Haward Kaylan letting rip on the tenor sax:

I like that one too!
"My" Bombora is from a cheap 16 track random surf compilation CD I received as a gift. It calls the track Bombora, can't help it.

And I quite like this track, though it's not from the classic era. I discovered it in a maritime museum.

The older Aussies among us may remember this jaunty tune (it's new to this older pommy). With thanks to Ian R for mentioning that * The Joy Boys* were on the bill with The Surfaris and our own Boys on their first trip down under:

How about this? Anyone familiar with The Mothers of Invention album We're Only in It for the Money will know the first few bars, before Zappa cruelly shuts it down as "Let's Make The Water Turn Black" kicks in (* this* is where I found out about it):

I LOVE this band. Recently found out their debut album is coming out next month; I couldn't pre-order that sucker fast enough!
I have this tune on an EP. When it came up, my dog actually wagged her tail in time to the music.
