We can take a lot away from this.... What exactly has Brian been recording? A long awaited Rock n Roll album, new tunes, just what exactly? This documentary is nearly 2 years old, so there must be some things in 'the can'. Thoughts?

Right Where I Belong (new song), Long Promised Road, It's OK, Honeycomb, I Hear You Knocking, Johnny B Goode, at least. How much will be released is anyone's guess.

Considering 'Feel Flows' being the hot topic right now, the current Brian work may be a little overlooked. I'm keen to see where Brian is right now..... This documentary, while it's new, but somewhat a couple years old, may have a lot of clues of new Brian material. I'm optimistic to say the least.....

Brian said in the Long Promised Road video that he's interested in doing covers. Geeeeez. If he wants to do covers, I hope at least that there's a mix of some originals in there.

Brian Wilson has given us so many more solo albums than we ever expected to hear. When he first went solo, the new albums were far and few between, of course there was that Gene Landy debacle. Then all of a sudden we got eight solo albums virtually in a row, starting with Gettin' In Over My Head in 2004 through No Pier Pressure and Brian Wilson and Friends in 2015 & 2016. And that's not even counting the Beach Boys reunion album, EP, and live double album in 2012. Basically that's 10 or 11 albums in 13 years!!! Most veteran artists have been putting out an album a decade or so. Consider The Rolling Stones who have released five studio albums in the last 31 years, and their last new album of originals was in 2005.
The last five years have seen little new from Brian, but there was plenty of touring, the "Love and Mercy" movie, and now the upcoming documentary to look forward to. Not too shabby for a 78-year-old.

1988, 1995 (twice, technically), 1998, 2000, 2002. Few and far between ? Yeah, even before his 11 albums in 13 years, he was more prolific than most artists. And if you count the unreleased Sweet Insanity albums, the Andy Paley sessions, the aborted Beach Boys reunion, the Stars and Stripes Beach Boys album and unreleased songs from those sessions - Wow!

Brian: I want to make a rock and roll record. Exits the car, proceeds to record a soft pop ballad.

He's been talking about The Rock And Roll Album for 25 years. Let him do it, for the love of god. Very much agree with this. Hate that it feels like pretty much since 1976, people constantly want Brian to make new music, and then when he does actually get in the spirit of making new music, it’s not the music that people want him creating. I always remember this quote, which makes me mad every time I read it: “I was literally begging him to forget the pop ditties and "song" songs. ... Brian sort of resisted it. I thought it was going to be natural, that he would just go right for it. But, in fact, I think that the times he worked in that style were very painful for him, and he obviously wasn't anxious to relive them. ... Brian would say "OK," and he would have a concept, like "California," but when he played it for me, it always ended up being a conventional song.” Lenny Waronker Brian has *always* made “ pop ditties and "song" songs.” What the hell is wrong with that? Literally he has always just made straightforward pop music with pretty simplistic lyrics, except for that one time for that one short period In 66/67 when he didn’t. I just hate people sometimes. I get The smile legend or whatever, but Brian is literally at his best when he’s just making goofy/fun/sad/emotional pop music. Yeah, I do love Rio grande, but no one should be going to work with Brian Wilson with the thought that he’s gonna be making 8 to 10 minute multi part Prague rock masterpieces. “That’s not him”

You know how Brian recorded PROUD MARY more than 15 times. I am told that his new obsession is HEY MISTER TAMBOURINE MAN.

I felt really quite moved by the clip there. But I wish somebody would take that approach to his music, just sit with him at his piano for a month with a four track recorder and capture whatever came to him. No hangers on, no Pro Tools, no nerves or pressure. Just Brian.
