Betsy was a lady, and that she will remain. But not in the Lifestyles Survivor Competition, time to hit the road, Betz!
Be back for more songs about Ladies and romance or heartbreak, as we embrace our last round of Love Songs before el mergo gigantus.

OOOOOOOF! Took heartless ole me some time to make a decision here, I'm sure it's gonna cause some of you bleeding hearts much agony (what's new you may say!).
I've gone for The Girl From New York City - a funky little track and arguably a melodic groove influencer of mega hit Good Vibrations, it makes me wanna shake the old ass, but lyrically lacking the emotional punch of the remaining contenders.
Clutching at straws for sure, but that's the name of the game. Consider me a vacillating pawn who may be easily drawn into YOUR sphere of influence before the poll closes, should you have a compelling argument to vote off another Love Song!!!!

"The Lonely Sea". I won't insult anyone here's intelligence by explaining why.

"The Lonely Sea". I won't insult anyone here's intelligence by explaining why. The spoken section? Love it! My vote goes to "Help Me, Rhonda" -- I heard it far too often at the time and quite simply prefer the more mellow h-less version.

I see Your Summer Dream is attracting a few votes - tough round, but I ask you to spare the rod for this touching seemingly solo Brian hidden gem, it’s lilting melody ahead of it’s time and more akin to Today or PS, it’s mood a precursor to the meditations of Friends.
Feel free to change your votes to The Girl From New York City!

Odd to see "Girls On The Beach" getting a thumbs-down. Please... it's not "Surfer Girl Part 2"!! Don't get me wrong. "Surfer Girl" is my favourite track on the album of that name. I love the doo-wop vibe to it without it actually being doo wop -- much like Ritchie Valens' "Donna". But the two BB songs are chalk and cheese. "GOTB" goes places harmonically that make you rub your ears in disbelief. The stunning modulation-within-a-modulation after the bridge is in a field of one. Indeed, the entire track is a gorgeous wash of sound.

Power ballads that get dumped early - just ignores the historical context of their work integrated into film, from their early days.

I don't think there's a bad song on the list here, but I'm going with You're So Good to Me.

The Lonely Sea, The Lonely Sea, e, Will be as lonely, e, as a sea can be, e
because it's been voted off!!! Farewell Lonely Sea but your time was up when the tide turned against you (a whole 4 votes btw).
OK, coming up now is the last round of songs about a life under the Californian sun before we move from 4 tribes down to 2!!! More on that over the weekend!!!

Welcome back to the last round of California Life songs before we merge down to 2 tribes and really get down and dirty.
**** Yes, I pooped up Drive-In in the poll listing and typed Dive-In - it's too much decking around to fix, so just roll with it.****
I'm gonna go Amusement Parks USA. Great production and arguably innovative stuff from the legendary funster Brian, but lyrically and melodically it still leaves me scratching my (pretty) head. I'll just snake-dance, stage left, shall I?

Some of my favorite songs are getting picked on. stop.
Going with "Do You Remember". Lyrically, for me, one of their very worst.
Rushed? Or just not thought out well? An interesting subject done half-assed. I love the backing vocals and the musical track itself.

The lyric rewrite tribute to J. Dean doesn’t move me as much as their Four Freshmen-esque version.

A real look at the amusement park genre/culture of the 60s.
This is why they are America’s Band.
They named parks from around the U.S.A. Good way to include others not on the West Coast.

A young man is gone - and also from this poll. See ya, JD, it was a good lei!
Well, that’s it for 4 tribes - we’re (I’m) gonna merge Cars with Girls, and Surfin’ with California Lifestyle to form 2 new Tribes!
Get ready for some turbulent decision making and insidious games of deceit and manipulation as you vie for your favourite to rule the roost as we cull the crop.
First poll will be up in 2 hours!

Welcome one, welcome all to the beginning of an epic Tribe whittling session, as we start to ditch our least favourite songs from the newly formed Tribe Go-Go, which has 25 Car and/or Love Songs.
I know you love all o' the songs, but Survivor is Survivor and only one song can win - it's not eat your cake then have it around here, you know.
It's a tough list, so knuckle down, punks, dig deep and vote off your least favourite.
I've gone Cherry Cherry Coupe, purely for the reason of a little bit of energy lacking, comparatively speaking - and speaking of comparative lacking, the original Land Ahoy had youthful charm in spades which is missed on the car-tech description heavy Cherry.
Go bananas!

Cherry Cherry Coupe Thing is, fdp, I much prefer the mellow “Ronda” to the far-too-often-heard-at-the-time “Rhonda”! Ah. Thanks for the explanation. What is interesting about Rhonda is that just about all of the Band, have done it live and each one brings something to the audience, live and exciting, beyond the scope of the single that went to #1 with Al on lead which could be considered the gold standard alongside the Today version. On some level, I think that it is one of their most versatile songs. So badass. Dennis! I realize that Carl’s photo is on this one. Dennis Dyken sat in on drums for this one that I saw. John Cowsill bringing it! Carl - with Sir Elton. Christian, whose voice I really like, always have. Al - on Andy Williams Show.

Hey glads and sads, lets get a rockin' with the next round of BB Survivor, our most ambitious and time consuming (in terms of putting the flippin' polls together) Survivor to date.
This round, you need to vote off your least favourite Surf/California (etc) Lifestyle song - we're getting to the bottom of these ones, but the hard decisions are upon us, chums!
For me, it's Amusement Parks USA (again I think) - a fine production in terms of inventive and intricate instrumentation and sonics evoking a whacky world of rides and carny amusements, and despite the spectacular Stella The Snake Dancer reference, the lyrics and melody are not my cup of tea. Having said that, I could be swayed to change to Be True School.
Out wit, Out play, Out last, my pretties!
