We all remember this CD from 2003. But did you know that Japan initially had a different Sounds Of Summer Comp?
And in the UK, they already had a 3 CD set that got tagged with a new SOUNDS OF SUMMER edition tag:

Amazingly, the UK 3-CD Sounds of Summer from 2005 had 18 songs that didn't make the official 2022 3-CD Sounds of Summer.
These are: Girls on the Beach Little Honda Please Let Me Wonder Then I Kissed Her You Still Believe in Me The Little Girl I Once Knew Caroline No Bluebirds Over the Mountain Breakaway The Beach Boys Medley Tears in the Morning Student Demonstration Time Lady Lynda Sumahama Here Comes the Night Wipe Out (with the Fat Boys) California Dreaming Fun Fun Fun (with the Status Quo)

Thank God, in the case of some. WTF, in the case of others.

This one's pretty confusing considering there are now multiple versions of it floating around depending on which country you came from. But looking at the most recent edition that came out last year to recognize the band's 60th anniversary, I'd say the expanded version of that release is the one to get. Despite the rather overblown criticism of some of the rather polarizing new mixes of several songs, you really can't beat the tracklist which mostly covers everything you need to hear from this group with only a few glaring omissions (namely the moderate hit "California Dreamin'" and no tracks off their final album, TWGMTR). And I would argue that the vinyl version of this release is the one to get, even if it's pricier.

I even like the redone "Marcella". Now I think I'd like to get it on vinyl as well. I agree with Awesoman. I enjoyed the release WAY more than I thought I would. I only purchased it after listening to it on Apple Music again and again.

The one main advantage of the vinyl edition is that the warm analog sound masks some of the mastering peculiarities found in the digital editions. Some of the shrill high frequencies are dulled a bit a blend a lot better. I admit I haven't played this one in awhile and might have selective memory but I don't recall having too many issues with the sound on the vinyl release.
