Which makes me happy because I love LA bread. Not a huge A/C bread fan myself tbh Au contraire! I really happen to like the A/C version more, since the way Brian sings the bass vocal and the combination of bass saxophone & the farty synth bass really gels with me, and I like Carl’s lead too. I think the guitar on the L.A. version kinda screws it up similar to the way it did for Bluebirds off 20/20. Dennis’ bass vocal is pretty good and I like parts of it but it just doesn’t stand a chance to me. Still like it more than Goin’ South though. However, as we all know, the live version of Shortenin’ Bread from ‘79 is the best version. So upbeat, catchy, awesome! |

Oof. The edge is going out to Here Comes The Night losing. It’s a shame, it’s got some great bass playing by Joe Chemay.  I love the original the best, but I like some disco. Think they did an excellent version with Carl and Al in the spotlight. I have the 12". That is where this long version should have stayed. Using the short one would have been enough for L.A. (Light Album). Would have been on my hit list soon enough. |

Hey when are we going to have more polls like this? I loved doing this one! Hold your horses, nts, this one isn't over yet! Right now "HCTN" and "Shortenin' Bread" are neck and neck with seven points apiece.  But I agree, they're great fun and Mr. Smith makes a wonderful job of them. So I'm guessing there will be more.  Yes, as many more are planned, but one at a time. This because once the box and 60th celebrations are completed, we’ll have a lot of time to fill until the 70th swings around. |

The tribe has spoken - Here Comes The Night has been danced off into the jungle. Perhaps only “for now”, as some lucky but sick member may find the hidden immunity idol before the end! (of this round) and annoint HCTN with the gold star!
I thought Shortenin’ was bound for the cutting board then, gripping stuff!

I'm doing what I did before, writing names on scraps of paper, dropping them in the SMiLE helmet and then picking one without looking. Only this time I mixed in "Shortenin' Bread" with "FS" and "GS". And the loser is... "Full Sail"! I hope things will get less desperate from now on.  |

Carl is amazing on FS but the rest of the song blows, it’s an unfortunate thing |

Alan keeps our game light-hearted and fun here. Smiley had and has a lot of backstabbers, so the games were and are vicious. I doubt they still play any kind of games at that place. Careful what you say while roaming around in there, Nate. They like to ban folks that don't share the Mods views. That's a warning, Nate. I was never banned, but I would have been if I had shared my true feelings. I don't post there due to what you are allowed to say. You can dig deep into the history at Smiley and find some great information, tho many of my favorite posters removed their content as they took exit.
