Hi, I’m 60 years old and have been a fan from 1975 when my cousin gave me a Beach Boys album, the one on the Music for Pleasure label with the 2 surfers on the front. I had heard of the Beach Boys but had no idea what they sang. The only song I knew on the album was Summertime Blues so I assumed that was their song. along with everyone else I bought 20 Golden Greats when it came out then bought everything I could from there on. Most of the records I bought were from a record shop in Stockbridge in Edinburgh called G.I. records, that was a great shop. I first saw them in concert at Wembley in 1980 then again in 1989 at Wembley when I dragged my pregnant wife onto a bus at Edinburgh and traveled to London to see them telling my wife how great they were going to be, they weren’t great. We’ve seen the Beach Boys and Brian Wilson a few times over the years although my wife isn’t a big fan, her favourite Beach Boys song is Passing Friend. We were fortunate to see them 3 years ago in San Diego, Humphries by the Bay while we were on holiday. thanks for accepting my request to join the forum

Ah, the Beach Boys on the MFP label. A crazy random compilation of Beach Boys songs! Very surprising that you'd listened to this one first before Golden Greats, which was an extremely popular album in the UK. But you have to start somewhere! Welcome to the Endless Harmony board, Ian!

I don’t think I knew about 20 Golden Greats before I listened to the MFP one. I’ve always wondered who picked the tracks for that competition

Hi, I’ve learned over the years not to mention the bus journey although we’ve been back to Wembley for the 50th anniversary tour and the Brian Wilson concert for That Lucky Old Sun at the South Bank theatre, both times by train

That was also the first Beach Boys album I heard, my parents had it. Weird album.
