Is now streaming on all platforms Have you listened? What did you think? Astonishing that no one else has said anything yet. First off, I'm not a major Paul fan. As I said in the Shout Box, I'm only 100% familiar with McCartney (which I own) and Band on the Run, both of which I like. Years ago someone at Smiley (Will?) pointed me at at least one other, more recent Macca album and I've also lent an ear to McCartney II, which I recall liking -- sort of what Trans is for Neil Young -- but that really is all. From my first listen to McCartney III, I'd say it's one heck of an album. It has the freshness and humour of McCartney but also a degree of dignity befitting a 78-year-old. It's a colourful album too -- of course, Paul has more instrumental colours at his disposal these days. Well, if Macca's sensible (sticking my neck out here) he'll stop there and go out on a high, like that other band. I'll leave a track-by-track review to someone with a better knowledge of the man's music.

To my ears, it sounds like a typical McCartney solo album –– four or five compelling tracks, outweighed by an abundance of half-baked filler. It starts strong with Long Tailed Winter Bird and Find My Way. And later on, Lavatory Lil and Deep Down are welcome highlights. The rest is... not bad?
Regardless of it's quality, kudos to Paul for his marketing genius with the album's title. (I'm sure if he were here, Lennon would have something to say about it, just as he did with the previous volumes.) It certainly got my attention, which hasn't really been the case with a new McCartney album since the turn of the century.
That said, I'm delighted that Paul is still making music and sharing it with the world. Looking forward to McCartney IV!

I just listened to MIII yesterday. To be honest, I've not been a big fan of much of Paul's 21st Century output, and this is no exception. The Kiss of Venus and Lavatory Lil (which sounds like a rewrite of Polythene Pam) were alright, but just about everything else was very repetitive and quite forgettable.

Eh. It’s cool that it hit the top 2 though, even though it was completely done by gaming the system.

If John were here, he'd be releasing John Lennon/Plastic Covid Band. I don't believe in Donald I don't believe in Pence I don't believe in maskless I don't believe in conspiracies I don't believe in vaccines I don't believe in Melania I don't believe in Invanka I don't believe in Macca I just believe in me... May Pang and me....

Agree with your take KDS, I was a little disappointed as I enjoy McCartney II very much and was hoping for a somewhat similar vibe. My favorite post-2000s Paul album remains Memory Almost Full...that was the last one that really felt excellent to me.

I didn't much care for Memory Almost Full, and to date, that's the last album of his I actually purchased. After listening to Egypt Station, New, and MIII via Spotify, I don't expect that to change.

Flaming Pie was the last time I had high expectations from Macca. His first solo album in 4 years, and the first after the Beatles reunion, so I guess I thought he'd be more inspired. There's always a couple good songs on a Macca album, but the best I can say about Flaming Pie is, it's better than Off the Ground.

And I think one of the main reasons was Jeff Lynne being on board.

I adore McCartney III. It's probably because I'm old … LOL
I have no expectations from Paul, but I'm a major fan of most everything he records.
It's so inventive, explorative and surprising. I mean, Paul is 78 years old.
I recommend it.

I'm not a great fan of Macca in general but to my ears III is definitely on a par quality-wise with the other two members of the McCartney trilogy.
