None of these works for me! I looked through the list of 1980 albums and picked 15 I do like: - Scary Monsters (and Super Creeps) ~ David Bowie - God Save The Queen/Under Heavy Manners ~ Robert Fripp - Sacred Songs ~ Daryl Hall - 17 Seconds ~ The Cure - Snakes and Ladders ~ Gerry Rafferty - McCartney II - Underwater Moonlight ~ The Soft Boys - Doc at the Radar Station ~ Cap'n Beefheart - Telekon ~ Gary Numan - Never For Ever ~ Kate Bush - Zenyatta Mondatta ~ The Police - Boy ~ U2 - Ace of Spades ~ Motörhead - Gaucho ~ Steely Dan - Me Myself I ~ Joan Armatrading Any chance of adding them, GF? I do like the idea as such.

The best album of 1980 is Heaven and Hell by Black Sabbath. But, for the sake of the poll, I'll go with Double Fantasy

The best album of 1980 is Heaven and Hell by Black Sabbath. But, for the sake of the poll, I'll go with Double Fantasy I've never heard Double Fantasy. (I'll probably end up voting for Keepin' the Summer Alive. In fact, I just did.) From my own list, after a modicum of soul-searching, I'd pick Gaucho. Absolutely perfect from start to finish. Steely Dan's finest hour.

I should have made the list longer.
I knew I'd get dinged for making it too personal, but got lazy. Hard to diss Bowie, U2 and etc without getting called out for it. Can I edit the poll? I don't see that as an option...

And I know hard rock and heavy metal isn't too popular here, but 1980 was an amazing year with releases by Van Halen, AC/DC, Black Sabbath, Blue Oyster Cult, Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Queen, Rush, Journey, Whitesnake, Ozzy Osbourne, and Saxon. Many of which were career and/or genre defining albums.

BACK IN BLACK by AC/DC and THE RIVER by Bruce Springsteen merit inclusion. Maybe EMPTY GLASS by Pete Townshend. I voted for REMAIN IN LIGHT. A terrific album that has aged well. PANORAMA by The Cars spent some time on my turntable in 1980...do not care much for it today.
