Happy 59th Birthday to Tracey Ullman! "They Don't Know" - written by Kirsty MacColl - is a great song and video (love Paul's cameo). This is one song I wish The Beach Boys would've covered.

Happy 75th Birthday to the great Jimmy Page!
Happy Birthday Jimmy. Now, we wait for the obligatory "I plan on releasing new music this year" quote. I'm not sure which we'll see first. That followup to Page's Outrider album or Brian Wilson's Rock and Roll Album.

Don't you like Rod Stewart to celebrate his birthday too? He's been in around the same circle of musicians as Page. This was question to thread starter @sheriff , kds and everybody else. Won't you answer? I'm a casual Rod Stewart fan at best to be honest. I like some of his 70s material, but overall, he's never really done a lot for me.

Won't you answer? You're starting to get on my nerves, Beach Boys Fan. Rod Stewart's birthday is January 10th - tomorrow.

I'm a casual Rod Stewart fan at best to be honest. I like some of his 70s material, but overall, he's never really done a lot for me. I meant when he'd been with The Faces. I could swear I'd seen some posters praising him at the PS board. I figured he as the vocalist would appeal to rock music fans. Hence the surprise. But me, I dislike his voice. I'm not really a huge fan of The Faces. Rod Stewart is one of those guys who I'm completely indifferent towards. I don't go out of my way to listen to him. I own none of his CDs, and none of his songs are on any of my Spotify playlists. Yet, I don't really dislike him, and don't lunge for the channel button if one of his songs comes on the radio.

Happy 81st Birthday to the great singer, Jack Jones. Growing up in California, Jack went to school and became friends with Nancy Sinatra. He would go over to her house after school and sometimes find Nancy's father hanging out there! Here's a video of Jack performing "God Only Knows". Bruce Johnston wrote the arrangement for him. I also wanted to plug Jack's 1964 Kapp Christmas album (photo below). You can pick it up at Real Gone Music or Amazon at a good price.

Precisely same age as my grandpa, cool! Thanks for this recommendation. As I said in the other thread, I like Jack Jones and besides, I'm big Christmas music fan. Would be especially interesting to hear his version of "The Christmas Song".

Would be especially interesting to hear his version of "The Christmas Song". Jack Jones is still performing and releasing albums. Funny you should mention "The Christmas Song" because his version is on the Kapp Christmas album, and it might be my favorite version of the song. That's saying a lot because of all the legends who recorded the song - Nat King Cole, Johnny Mathis, Tony Bennett, Karen Carpenter, Sinatra...Jack's version is brief, no fluff, great vocal.
This isn't a clear version; sounds like a needledrop, but it's the only one I could find:

He may be like Steve Lawrence then, who still tours around singing (and who I discovered via "What's My Line" as well).
I mentioned "The Christmas Song" when I read the album cover picture you shared - there's song titles listed.
I listened before to Cole, The Carpenters and Stevie Wonder's versions of "The Christmas Song". Favorite - Stevie's which he sang when he was 17-18. But, reading as you say Jack' s version is the best, looks like I'm in for treat. Thanks for the link.

Total game changer when it comes to hard rock. Its a pity, he's released only one album in the last 20 years.

I'm not a huge Van Halen fan so I might be misspeaking, but I thought there was a chance a while back that Eddie wasn't going to be with us much longer. He's looked much healthier lately, thankfully.

Eddie has some health and substance abuse issues. After surviving tongue cancer, he was hitting the bottle pretty hard during the 2004 tour with Hagar on vocals, and was looking very rough. But, in the last decade, he seems to have gotten his act together.

I'm not sure how I spaced on this one, but Happy Birthday to the legendary Alice Cooper, which was yesterday
After 50 years, he's still one of the best live shows out there.

Happy 85th Birthday to George Segal, a great actor who played the banjo on Ray Manzarek's second solo album, The Whole Thing Started With Rock And Roll Now It's Out Of Control.
