jk . yeah it is I like stuff from other eras too, like I can get into funk with Parliament or some early hip hop and the ocassional one-off tracks from the 2000s. But I think the best decade for music was 1965-1975. I borrowed this insane comp of Parliament-Funkadelic stuff from the library years ago. "Flash Light" with its preposterous synth bass and this one, "Do That Stuff", are major favourites of mine.

Been on this 80's MTV kick lately. Here's a song which got a lot of airplay in 1982 - Romeo Void "Never Say Never":
Pretty cool, Sheriff. The band name sounds familiar but it's an era I never fully connected with (my fault).

It isn't the sorta witty pop they were known for in their heyday, but my favourite Squeeze song is without a doubt Some Fantastic Place

That's lovely, @iluvleniloud . Sounds like a great late-night listen. My lone Todd moment comes from the same year: I originally came here (before I was side-tracked ) to link this great song by Jackie Wilson which I heard this morning while trudging through the snow in Yosemite National Park (on the screen in front of me down the gym, lol). Most appropriate too, as my walk was taking me higher and higher altitude-wise.

Herman Dune, who put out a new album (Santa Cruz Gold) in December 2018 right under my nose. I didn't realize it existed until today. Way to screw up my 2018 playlist, Yaya.

Today I listened to the self-titled album by Blood, Sweat And Tears. I've listened to it a number of times this month, and though I prefer their debut album by quite a margin, it's growing steadily on me My favorite off the album is "And When I Die", which I think has a stunning arrangement as well as great lead vocal. "You've Made Me So Very Happy" is great too, and Erik Satie instrumentals are lovely.

Another band I've been obsessed with lately is They Might Be Giants.
A member on Beach Boys Discord is a big fan of the band and talk about them all the time, so I decided to check them out. I've listened to self-titled debut album, Lincoln and Flood, and I've impressed very much with all of them.
Their songs tend to be brief, but they're full of catchy melodies and great musical ideas. Also, there's so much diversity of genres in one album of theirs, yet they are consistent with "synth-orient-yet-lively" arrangement and never sound like a mess. I especially enjoy jazz influences found on these albums.
My favorite song so far is this one:

Morris Ravel (sp?) "Bolero" - liked it since local 2002 TV show featuring it in its otherwise cheesy soundtrack. Took reaaally big time to identify it. Maybe 10 years. It's lengthy and what seems like samey but, there's many little cool things going beneath. It's catchy. It's Maurice. Superb stuff--Ravel was a master orchestrator. I can half understand the "samey" accusation but as you say, there's so much happening along the way. The tune is thrown from one instrument (and combination of instruments) to another and the accompaniment gets steadily fuller and more complex. Never a dull moment! And it builds to a massive climax. Good call, BBF. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Boléro

Not now but an hour or so ago, in a TV drama about a notorious Dutch criminal. I was shocked by the context but delighted to hear it all the same. This is for Cassandra:

Love this song. A perfect slice of psychedelia. Grace Slick's shining hour. R.I.P. Marty Balin.

Here's something on the mellow side from the late 70s that I recently rediscovered:

I didn't know where to post this so I chose here. This is a rare, short interview with Jan & Dean just before their comeback in the 1970's.
