Thanks, Andrew - the cruises looked separate with different dates/bands on the cruise site. That's great. (Not on FB.) Thanks again. Cowsills tour annually, with Happy Together and wouldn't miss them. They're on 3 cruises, including a Rock n' Romance cruise. maltshopcruise.com/

How did the Beach Boys sound? They sounded great. The sound failed in the theater.

Excited that 2024 dates are already being announced.
I think this will be another excellent year for The BBs. The renewed sense of energy and enthusiasm brought by Jon B & John W's presence has been a joy to experience.
Given that 2024 will be the 50th anniversary of Endless Summer, I predict that this tour will use the ES iconography and name.
It was also announced in Illinois news sites and in Tom Martin's BB emails that the band will return to Elk Grove Village, Illinois for a July 4 concert. (edit, seeing it's on the list on page 1 now)
I CANT WAIT FOR THAT!!!!! Last time The BBs played in Elk Grove I was lucky enough to attend, and there were approximately 40,000 fans there. It was a record breaking attendance for the area according to the mayor. I live in WI, but it was absolutely worth the drive. Got to chat with Bruce after the show, in which we spent a significant amount of that time talking about his "Sports Theme" song. That night the band performed 'Feel Flows', 'Add Some Music', and 'It's About Time' which was incredible. Never thought I'd hear M&B BBs pull those songs out. Very special night. Looking forward to their next appearance in Elk Grove, and the fact it's a July 4 concert makes me even more excited, because we all know if there's one band synonymous with July 4, it's The BBs

Love the enthusiasm, Nater.
Interesting thought re: 50th anniversary of Endless Summer. I’ve put a personal (albeit flimsy) moratorium on picking up any more Beach Boys tour shirts … but that is one design that I have always wanted. Brian’s 2013 tour shirt is a really nice homage to the original concept.
An Endless Summer setlist would certainly be in Mike’s wheelhouse, lol.

Yeah, I have to love Nater's enthusiasm, but unless there are significant changes to the setlist, I can't see shelling (ha ha, sea shell) out the big bucks for more BB's concerts. I've seen the group 3 times in the last 5 years. The Feel Flows box prompted them to add some of those songs to the setlist; sadly, Sail On Sailor did not. The only thing I can imagine happening next year is a celebration of Endless Summer, but are any of those songs NOT in the current setlist anyway? There might be a few songs on Spirit of America they haven't played recently. I just kinda see the sun setting on the band and in particular the touring band in the coming years. Beach Boy music will never die, there will always be someone using their songs in movies and television, and as the original (Mike, Bruce, Al, Brian and David) guys fade away, there will probably be more of an opening for tribute bands. Tribute bands are huge these days - they're pretty much all we get at our casinos and performing arts centers. I don't mind paying $25 for a very good tribute band. I've seen tributes to Wings and the Beatles, Bread, Abba, Linda Ronstadt, Elvis (of course). I could enjoy a BB tribute if the singers were high caliber and the setlist was more than just the 20 greatest hits.

There are, of course, a number of so-called "fans" who consider the current touring group nothing more than a tribute band, ignoring the inconvenient facts that not only has Brian been prefectly happy with Mike & Bruce fronting the BRI-sanctioned Beach Boys since the late 1990s - he voted in favour of them having the license to use the name - but that he also gets a slice of the action every single time they play a live show.

A man and his wife thought they could buy VIP passes at the box office when they were only sold through the website. They drove all the way from Dallas to Lubbock only to be told they were out of luck. Another man at that same venue bought a ticket online that turned out to be fake, and was desperately trying to buy a ticket at the box office for the second show. Another fellow I made friends with in Spartanburg asked me about purchasing an ESQ membership, which is sold out. The supply of Beach Boys products and services is not meeting the public demand. The stage is theirs for as long as they want it. When they do inevitably pass on, it is a sure bet that there will be people breaking out their ouija boards trying to pick up some good vibrations. We might be blessed enough to have them around for another four decades or more given the oldest recorded lifespan currently sits at 122 years. They are still very active in their 80’s.

ESQ membership is sold out? That'll come as a considerable surprise to David Beard. To be clear, the VIP membership. And if one had been available, I would have made a gift of it to that absolute gentleman by the name of Daniel Rodgers. A lady sitting between us had broken up with her boyfriend and became intoxicated to the point of losing her phone and shirts beneath the stage. She was alone, and intended to drive home after the show. He made sure she got some water and alerted security after the show. Thankfully, everything turned out alright. As coincidence would have it, she had a seat next to me again at the Fayetteville show the next night. If you look at the woman between Bruce and Christian, that is me. Daniel is directly below me in this clip in the yellow shirt and cap, and you can see him looking after the lady. She threw her arms around him and tried to pick him up several times that night, which got to the point of being a distraction during the show. At one point we thought she was going to attempt to climb on stage. If and when those VIP memberships do become available, I would like to gift one to Daniel, as we exchanged contact information after the show. He listens to David’s podcast, and enjoys ESQ too.

I don't think so, because he doesn't own the publishing on the pre-1969 songs (thanks Murry). As a voting member of BRI he gets 25% the concert take: actually it's more complex than that but that's the basic premise.

Songwriters receive performance royalties.
