Might as well cover this one. As far as live albums go, this is required listening. It's fantastic. It boasts a daring setlist that mixes the hits with the lesser known album cuts. Brian himself sounds great (better than he had ever sounded in a live setting) and engaged and his band was in absolute top form. Opening the show with "The Little Girl I Once Knew" (which was proceeded by some archival banter from BW) was a nice touch.
This album secured my confidence that Brian at that point still had more to offer us and wasn't winding down just yet. The only real misfires here are the two "new" songs, "The First Time" and "This Isn't Love". While neither of them are bad, they're not particularly remarkable either.
What say you...?

Well, I love it. And, with The Little Girl I Once Knew, which was my real intro (I knew who they were, but in the context/mix of the other big 3 bands.) i think it was those infamous pauses that caught my attention. Great release.

It was astonishing after Brian retired from touring in the mid sixties, made a couple of appearances in the early 70s, and sporadically join The Beach Boys on tours again after the "Brian's Back" campaign but not contribute all that much - suddenly he's fronting his own band, and touring regularly for over 20 years. (I haven't checked my exact numbers or dates - you get the gist). Nobody would have ever expected or predicted Brian touring after being so reluctant over the decades. I only wish there was a DVD featuring complete songs from a complete concert from this era. I enjoy having the new, previously unreleased songs. Everybody likes to get some rarities when they fork over their money for something like this CD. I also wish that the bonus tracks were available from the beginning, so I didn't have to buy this set three separate times.
