Thanks to jk for making me aware the 'make your own albums' thread I was searching for was on another forum (!) and to longtime lurker for putting up an alternate / imaginary album listing in one of the SOS threads to get the ball rolling. I've been tinkering on Spotify trying to create a playlist for an 'extra' album with the abundance of tracks from the Sunflower era. I don't have access to all my old twofers etc but most of what I used for this album years ago is on Spotify in some form. The Fading Rock Group RevivalSide 1 Old Man River (Intro) Soulful Old Man Sunshine - MIC box set version San Miguel I Just Got My Pay Susie Cincinnati Two Can Play Cotton Fields - Feel Flows 2020 mix Side 2 Break Away Celebrate The News HELP Is On The Way Good Time Loop De Loop We're Together Again Old Man River (Outro) Run Time - 37 mins 31 sec Old Man River Intro is the vocal section and outro is Old Folks At Home / Old Man River. This would ideally be from the twofer (I think?) but had to use the 1968 20/20 sessions alt version. I prefer the version without Mike's guide vocal of the 'I get weary' part. If I was playing tactically and trying to get another album or two out of the period I might split some of these tracks up for other albums but I made it as an album I'd love to hear rather than try to spread out my favourites and make multiple albums from the time. I love this period of the band and while there are plenty of more weighty / emotional tracks I could have used, mainly from Dennis, I really love the upbeat and light hearted feel of this selection. Can't wait to see what other playlists / alternate / shoulda woulda coulda albums, from all periods of the group's career, other members have come up with.

Love old man river, soulful old man sunshine, cotton fields (45 version) and HELP. 👍 No offense, but your other proposed tracks never did much for me. I wish Sunflower had used these four tracks in place of tears..., at my window, got to know the woman, and it's about time.

Oh I couldn't possibly* take offense at that. To me that's the same as someone saying 'I actually like the colour red more than blue'. And it's also why I'm eager to hopefully see your and others' takes on already released or non released albums etc. Would love to see your alternate Sunflower tracklist for example. *I mean I know people do get offended by such things. Another topic altogether but I honestly sigh with dismay sometimes at what I read online with people's opinions about a new movie being either 'best ever' or 'trash' and the war of words (I won't go as far as war of ideas!) between 'sides' over opinions of art of all things. I give a good hearty 'good grief!' when I see this type of 'discourse' I spent way too long reading youtube comments recently where barbs were thrown by two sets of 'fans' either calling Sgt Pepper's 'overrated garbage' or Pet Sounds 'boring trash'. But yeah back on topic (!) throw that alternate Sunflower running order (and anything similar) up if you get a moment, would love to see it.

Especially since I hadn’t even heard some of these tracks before. Thanks for the post and for enlightening me to some new (to my ears) Beach Boys tunes. It’s mad to think that with all the Wilson/Paley stuff and what could have happened with a second BB50 album etc, The Beach Boys have never stopped making questionable or frustrating decisions leaving potentially great albums on the table 😅😂 I’m gunna compile and listen to this album end to end for sure 🙏 Oh and cool title for it too! 😎

Because it's that time of the year, here's my version of the 1977 Christmas Album: Merry Christmas from The Beach Boys - The 1977 Christmas Album Side 1:Christmas Time Is Here Again Alone On Christmas Day Bells Of Christmas Child Of Winter Winter Symphony Side 2:I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus Kona Christmas Rockin' Around The Christmas Tree Santa's On His Way Christmas Medley Morning Christmas Time: 29 Minutes (This is honestly the only listenable configuration of this proposed album to me. Had to leave off Go And Get That Girl, Michael Row The Boat Ashore, Seasons In The Sun, and Santa's Got An Airplane for not being "Christmas-y" enough.) The album art I made is a mash-up between MIU cover design and the 1977 Bowie/Crosby picture sleeve art for maximum period authenticity. Versions with and without hats... I couldn't decide. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Can't wait to see what other playlists / alternate / shoulda woulda coulda albums, from all periods of the group's career, other members have come up with. I listen to 15BO, M.I.U., and KTSA in substantially re-worked form, pulling out most of the covers and swapping in other tracks extant at the time each album was released -- thus leaving an album's worth of songs not originated by any Beach Boy. The resultant hypothetical "album" would include the tracks listed below and could have been released in 1981. Never made a graphic mock-up of cover art, but always thought "Other Records" would be precious, with a 45rpm spindle adapter obscuring the "Br" in the Brother Records logo. It's an okay listen if the mood is right. Come Go With Me Blueberry Hill Sea Cruise In the Still of the Night A Casual Look Chapel of Love Talk to Me (Medley) Peggy Sue You've Lost That Lovin' Feeling Winds of Change All Alone School Day (Ring! Ring! Goes the Bell) Da Doo Ron Ron Why Don't They Let Us Fall In Love

Not a cover, just one of "songs not originated by any Beach Boy." Same for Winds of Change.

A more schizophrenically sounding (in terms of production, that is) alternate version of the California Dreaming posted above, would be...
California Dreaming
It's Gettin' Late Getcha Back Melt Away Where I Belong Strange Things Happen She Believes in Love Again
Chasing the Sky California Dreaming Maybe I Don't Know (or maybe Kokomo or Meet Me in My Dreams or Run Don't Walk or...) Rio Grande Somewhere Near Japan Love and Mercy
A Christmas Album
Our Prayer Morning Christmas Winter Symphony O Holy Night -or We Three Kings Goin' South What I Really Want for Christmas
Alone on Christmas Day (77 version) Christmasey Big Sur Christmas Little Saint Nick (original single version) Christmas Day Joy to the World

L.A. Light Album (Double)
Side A: Good Timin’, Lady Linda, Full Sail, Angel Come Home, Love Remember Me
Side B: Looking Down The Coast, Santa Anna Winds, Lines, Deep Purple, It’s Over Now
Side C: It’s Not Too Late, Love Surrounds me, Sumahama, Everybody Wants To Live, Shortnin’ Bread
Side D: Here Comes The Night, Baby Blue, Going South, California Feelin’
Why did they never release a double album? Seriously their discography was calling out for one.

Coast To Coast
Side One
Loop De Loop (Flip Flop Flyin' In An Airplane) Susie Cincinnati San Miguel Two Can Play I’m Goin’ Your Way My Solution Carnival (Over The Waves-Sobra Las Olas)
Side Two Soulful Old Man Sunshine Sweet And Bitter It’s A New Day Big Sur (Wouldn’t It Be Nice To) Live Again
Just something I put together for a couple of friends to show how much the Beach Boys left viable material in the vault. I tried to make it sound like an album instead of a playlist.
