Almost a decade ago I was a member of the Smiley Smile message board for a brief period. Since then I’ve lurked there and here every now and again.
Earlier this year I bought The Beatles In Mono boxset and, having never listened to them in mono, it was a revelation how much more alive so much of the music sounded and felt.
After listening to The Beatles in mono it made me want to listen to the best album I’ve ever heard, Pet Sounds, in mono. I know I first heard it on a CD in mono (so it won’t be a completely new experience) but I have no idea what reissue I originally heard it on as I don’t have it anymore. I also used to have the 1997 boxset but don’t have that anymore either. There have been several different CD mono reissues of the album and I decided to create an account here just to ask this forum what your opinions are about what the best mono CD reissue of Pet Sounds is. I posted my question in the General On-Topic Discussion section for anyone who wants to share their opinion. Thank you to everyone who has so far by the way and to anyone else who does!
Other than making that post, hoping it’ll help me in making the best purchase of a Pet Sounds mono CD, I don’t really know how often I’ll comment or post here. As I said above I’ve lurked here and enjoy the conversations, though I usually don’t feel I have anything to say. I’m not an expert like so many of you seem to be. I’m just someone who really loves the music (most of their stuff, not just Pet Sounds), and I’m glad this place is here for all of you who really love the music too.

Uncoverthecornfield! Welcome to the Endless Harmony Message Board!
If you love the Pet Sounds album, the '97 Pet Sounds Sessions Box is essential in my opinion. Stereo mix, mono mix, tracks only, vocals only, just fantastic! The stereo mix has been my go-to since 1996 (a year before the box was formally released).
The best sounding Pet Sounds CD is subjective. It could vary depending on one's hearing, including age. Also the technology it was mixed/mastered with. The stereo or 5.1/7.1 system the CD is played on is obviously a factor. But I hope you find answers to your question here, or at least a guide on what to seek out.
Looking forward to reading your posts here and thanks for playing!
-Mike
