Watching Brian work on “Honeycomb,” just like 55 years ago on Pet Sounds, you can see how he leads the other band members, tweaks a guitar tone here, adds a staccato there, changes a rhythm, and eventually something magical emerges which could never have been invented by the band working on their own.

Anyone who thinks that Brian has lost his touch or misses a trick, in the studio or a sound check, is very foolish.

It was 1) my favorite part of the documentary and 2) I wouldn't make too much of it.

Interesting to hear what Brian fancies in a tune. The original by Jimmie Rodgers of course, was apparently done in 1 take according to Jimmie. They set up the Mic's, got a sound check, played the song live, and that became the legendary version. What I don't understand is why Brian left out a whole 8 bars of the chorus. The lyrics should be: Got a hank o' hair and a piece o' bone And made a walkin' talkin' Honeycomb Well, Honeycomb, won't you be my baby Well, Honeycomb, be my own They must have forgot... I like seeing Brian like this, nothing too serious, just singing and playing tunes with a BW influence on them. Who doesn't get a kick out of Brian's comment, 'I'll play the Piano'.?

Two points:
1 - Brian cut a track for "Honeycomb" in October 1974 and added Marilyn's vocal a couple of years later.
2 - the footage is, obviously, at least two years old.
