Would have been nice to run through and discuss a new release during this lock down, but if I've learned anything in life it is that it is like waiting for a baby to be born, very impatiently - they are born when they are ready, to be born and nothing will change that - it is like an apple falling from a tree - when it is ready we will have it - notwithstanding any internal details being ironed out. And - I'll be all ears when it is ready for us. No doubt it will be well worth the wait.

Been staying out of this one as there is really nothing to do but wait. One thing I’d like to remind people of is that things could be much much worse. John mentioned a Fleetwood Mac box set....well, do a little research on the critically acclaimed self titled Buckingham Nicks album that preceded their joining FM. Two people that really despise each other and fans having been waiting for an official expanded release for e v e r.

Anyone else signed this?
I've just added my sig though it went against my better judgement: Change is the petition site used by that bloke who tried unsuccessfully to dissuade Mike from playing the big game hunters' convention, then changed the wording of his petition statement, effectively stealing the signatures for his wider cause. Hopefully this won't happen with this one.

500 signatures will carry no weight whatsoever. Pointless exercise.

I’m against those signature campaigns, I won’t sign. If the box set is released, I’m all for it. If it isn’t, that’s fine. Unless more info has been issued, we don’t know the reason for the delay, other than Mike Love should be blamed for it.
I understand this must be a serious situation for some of the people who worked in putting together the set, but I won’t join in the crocodile tear shedding of fans who want to hear outtake #23 or a vocals-only track. We’re entitled to sh*t, Love et al. are entitled to their music. And let us not pretend there is a drama where there is not.

Exactly. The Beach Boys, individually and collectively, "owe" me - us - nothing, and anyone who thinks differently is not only entitled but also deluded. The reasons for the delay are doubtless far more complex than " it's Mike's/Alan's/Brian's fault. Sometimes I look at Beach Boys fans and wonder how they manage to breathe without a sheet of instructions.

Sometimes I look at Beach Boys fans and wonder how they manage to breathe without a sheet of instructions. By listening to Country Air, of course! Anyways, curious as to why the Feel Flows set is still being discussed in here, as it's been made quite clear by now that the BIG News™ has no relation to the set.

Why stop at asking for a box set? Just set up a change.org petition for the entire vaults to get released as a .zip file

Maybe the BIG NEWS is they found that 5 to 6 minute March 1967 tape of H&V PART 1 & 2 and it is just as some wise(?) fella suggested 10 years ago with master #57020 on SIDE 1 and master #57045 on SIDE 2.

It was planned for 2 years, was fully prepared and ready to go - yet is now is not scheduled for release. It's not like everyone just decided, "Well, that was fun - let's not release it after all." Apparently, there is not unanimous agreement with the group here ... which suggests "drama".

Clearly something is delaying the release. As to exactly what, or whom, I'm reminded of something that happened many years ago.
Back in the day, the editor of a Hearst newspaper sent a telegram to the leading astronomer of the day. It said "Require 1000 words subject life on Mars by return"... and back then, you didn't mess with the Hearst empire. The editor got his article by return as demanded: it consisted of the two words "Nobody knows" repeated 500 times.
And aside from a very few folk at the centre of the centre of the project, indeed, nobody knows... anything.

How much could the lawsuit against Capitol have affected in '69? Maybe it's just someone vetoing something. This thing is freaking me out. Really.

Only disagree with AGD (slightly) on one point: The Beach Boys, individually and collectively, "owe" me - us one thing. Quit announcing shit that isn't coming. That would be a big help.

To be fair though, the set was never publicly announced in the first place...

Yet, everyone with a deep to slight interest was expecting it and were in a state of high anticipation given the legend that has been cultivated and grown around this era of the BB's history.
On the topic of entitlement, while I agree that it is not the fans place to nebulously demand product like a nest of baby birds, and while I also support the artists ownership and intent (ie, if an artist only wants us to be privy to the finished product), I would also point out that a good many fans have gladly financially supported the band and it's members lifestyles for many a year(Greatest hits on vinyl, Greatest Hits on cassette/cart/CD/vinyl/stream, and the highly dedicated fans have "over-supported" the band (ie, buying multiple copies etc) including times when product has been sub-par to laughable - not just in terms of the product to hand, but in terms of buying repeat product in order to get a bonus track, or a "previously unreleased because we only just found the tambourine track on a safety copy at EMI-Angola" stereo mix and we've got Tom Petty in to write the liners.
It's a 2 way street.
That is all, and my credit card remains right by my pillow, ready to go.

True, we fans have supported their lifestyle by buying the product down the years, but that's something we choose to do. No-one's forcing us to. The only thing doing that entitled us to is to pass comment on the quality thereof, nothing more.

You are of course correct and I stand corrected. Let me take a different tack, if I may. Please, The Beach Boys. Please have a think about all of those times we the fans put our hands into our pockets to buy Greatest Hits volume 1 to 200, the bloody Sunkist (for F's sake) compilation, the light-up Smile box (or the $100K totally off base surf board - btw, if you own it, how does it handle the breaks?), paid to attend the Queen Mary or Melbourne concert, or finally, and the shame will never ever go away (Out, out, damned spot), bought the Stars and Stripes package with the sunglasses, I could go on - and just bloody release the Feel Flows box set as a gesture of good will for our past gestures of good will. And then we'll have world peace.

To be fair though, the set was never publicly announced in the first place... Al and Bruce told people it was coming, which is as good as an announcement. To be fair, Bruce also announced (years ago) that he was going to write a book about his life and release a non-solo solo album. And Al has made more than enough dubious predictions over the years. Their word is not exactly their bond.

Anyway, this thread is about the ESQ announcement, not the FF box set. And ESQ did make an announcement that so far hasn’t backed up. An update would be in order.
