There’re some nice lines, nice melodies in here but, somehow, it doesn’t gel, to my ears. A different arrangement/production style might be what’s called for, though then it wouldn’t be Love You, would it.

Ok, Let's Put Our Hearts Together, the poll shows - 6 voted 5 or less, 10 voted 6>. 62% in favour!
1 - 1 vote 2 - 1 vote 5 - 4 votes!
6 - 3 votes 8 - 2 3 votes 9 - 1 2 votes 10 - 2 3 votes!
Thanks JK for giving things a push along, we couldn't have done it without you.
Coming up real soon we'll be picking up about one of those songs (the songs with decidedly dicey lyrics), I Wanna Pick You Up - I just need a quick break to go snack on some of John's marmalade!
*OK, Poll is now closed*

Let’s put our hearts together - I enjoy the way this one just sort of gently rocks back and forth on the verse...it’s a very comforting progression....and when the jazzy vocal harmonies come in it’s just bliss. 8/10

"Let's Put" is beautiful pair. Been huge Marilyn voice fan since 1st hearing. She's got cool & pretty voice. It's kinda jazzy. Brian sings good, different good than 60s but, adding to duet he sings endearingly. 10.

Missed the vote for "Let's Put Our Hearts Together" - 9/10. I mostly take Sundays off, and
forgot to leave a vote behind to be added.
Very endearing song, though I know what Alan is referring to about Brian's home life at the
time.
Note: It looks weird from my end on a big screen, but I'm going to start double-spacing my
posts so they are easier to read on a phone. Does it help? I don't use a cell phone, so don't
know how it looks on one.

Picking up where we left off, I Want To Pick You Up gets a high 7 from me for the music and arrangement - some nice touches (the synth brass counter harmonies in the second verse) a shared Denny and Bri lead - fantastic - and a nifty unexpected little ending.
Lyrically, like a few other songs of the time Brian was want to enthusiastically bare his lovemap. Had the second line run - "because you're a beautiful baby", we may have been none the wiser and spared the vague discomfort of raspy Dennis reeling off Brian's list of fetishes de jour.
Perhaps they should have stuck with the Pick Ya Up At 8 concept as demoed during 15 BOs. Or did they turn that into Mona (Howza bout'n 8 clock dinner)?
Here's Darian S's cover version in a Pet Sounds-esque arrangement - although some may argue if it ain't Baroque, don't fix it.

"...Pick You Up" definitely is resounding 10. Easily THE best song in album!!! Really perfect musically, especially synth melody behind leads in Stanza 2. It's jolly interesting song, besides being, of course, beautiful start-finish. Glad it exists, Brian's genius to've written it. Kudos.

I feel a bit silly about not voting for Love You, despite what I consider to be a valid reason... Tell you what, A, I'll give the last three tracks and the album ten points each and we'll say no more about it.

Ah, the dreaded back end of Love You (and I'm not just saying that because of the "I wanna pat your butt" lyric).
I'm giving I Wanna Pick You Up a 2.

I wanna pick you up has a lovely lullaby-esque quality to it but I don’t think the raucous production or juvenile lyrics do it any favors - 6.5 but rounding down to 6 because 7 seems too high

One has to be approved to see the post! I signed up yesterday. Still waiting to be let in. Didn't realize that, Will. It's worth subscribing. Here's the voting so far: Sail On Sailor - 73, Feeling Stronger Every Day - 27. I'm in! John's mug is among us newuns, as well. I'm in a few facebook groups. If you look at my home page you won't see much. Don't think I've added anything for about 5 years. I only signed up so my family can send me stuff, and a portal to messenger for those of us who do not have a cell phone.

I Wanna Pick You Up was my Mother’s favorite Beach Boys’ song. She used to get a kick out of the “Pat, pat, pat, pat her on her butt, but she’s gone to sleep, be quiet. Pat, pat, pat, pat, pat, pat her on her butt, she’s gone to sleep.” She thought that was just the cutest line. I never had the heart to tell her the real meaning of the song. Real meaning or not, I give the song a 9. A nice Dennis and Brian duet and fantastic harmony on the last line.

Here's Darian S's cover version in a Pet Sounds-esque arrangement - although some may argue if it ain't Baroque, don't fix it. There's one in every crowd. A comment from "a John" at youtube said this is better than The Beach Boys version. Adding, "Dennis and Brian's voices were gone and heavy synths were a bit much." I corrected that notion, "no way".

The light shines brightest just before the sun sets, that is when it's looking you right in the eyes.
"I Wanna Pick You Up" got a 10/10 from me.
Here's the "other" one I love:
