The only clue I might offer would give it all away. Photo taken in 1969 on the UK tour.

Could the guy talking to Brian be Rick Edgil, former editor of ESQ, San Diego police officer, and one of the main guys who put on the Beach Boys ESQ conventions in 1990 and 1992? Not sure what the guy standing behind him in the white shirt is doing though........ Pretty sure that's Peter Whitfield, aka new member sneakypete. Photo taken at the 1988 Stomp Convention in West London. And behind him is Paul McNulty, and behind him only stomach and chest showing with striped blue t-shirt is myself. The infamy!

I'm guessing sometime in the last year.
Edit: that's pretty much the same expression he's got on the CD cover of At My Piano.

Cool...in the one shot, it appears Elizabeth Banks had just planted a wet one on our hero's left cheek!

Awww, even then, it looks like it's a couple years old, I wouldn't say 'recent'...

Brian and Spring in 1970.
...and with Tandyn Almer.
Has it ever been determined if the venue here is Big Gus Club or the Whiskey?

Yes the Big Gus Club. Billy H-who was there-told me that and I at first doubted him but I then found an article about the event in Disc and Music Echo

I was told, by a reasonably reliable source, that after the photo of Brian in the pool with the gold disc was taken, he got out, walked to the nearest wall and smashed it. Did Hal Blaine tell you that, because he told me that in 1982.

Hal loves a good tale as much as the next seadog (aaaaarh). However , that whole "wrecking crew" story sounds made up on the spur of the moment. I mean it's sooo literal. It's a good thing the guy didn't say "you guys are going to ruin the industry" you know then they're the "Ruining Crew" . Doesn't have the right ring to it. I wonder how much of an influence the Matt Helm movie of the same name was?

Calling all Brian Wilson facial hair experts! Brian had a pretty big beard at the Easter Seals Telethon on March 25 1979. My semi-creepy question is thus: do we have photos of Brian with an even bigger beard or is this the biggest it got?

I've studied Brian's beard and the Easter Seals/Midnight Special 1979 period is the pinnacle of Brian Wilson "beardom". Pretty impressive during the Going Platinum period but the mustache was not as full as that ES/MS period. It was pretty much all downhill from here when you get to the 1981 Queen Mary period when Brian would shave down the cheeks and really trim the mustache. If you have any other questions about Brian's beard please ask: it'll make me feel like I haven't completely wasted my life.

A sentence beginning with the words ”I've studied Brian's beard” is undeniable proof that the rest of the post is going to be the best ever written on this forum. I’m glad I’m among friends and not alone in my interest in Brian’s facial hair and how it changed througout the years. He just looked plain cool during that ES/MS period. It’s a shame he didn’t let it grow even longer because the tidy 1981 Queen Mary style was definitely a move in the wrong direction, culminating in the mid 80s ’dad’ look. I suddenly feel an urge for a ”Brian beardography” photo collage… Anyone?
