Yeah... Mike's spoken to Alan, but not specifically about a 60th tour... Alan said a few weeks ago they're doing 20-30 dates... Brian's manager says no-one's spoken to him about a 60th tour... Bruce & David aren't even mentioned. Business as usual in the BB cosmos, then. Best news since this absolute insanity. Thanks to all for the info!

Sounds like something is in the works. I just hope that there is someone who is enterprising and greedy who will make money through this, because that I was motivates people to do things. This is the last chance for a reunion with all 5 surviving beach boys because time in line or so uncertain. I really hope they get together for a few high profile shows and some fantastic performances and a dramatic good bye to the nation. And I guess you can tour without an album because you can sell the old albums but they should have at least one single out to support. Yeah... It doesn't read to me like there's actually going to be a reunion, from that. The only comment directly addressing a reunion is the one from Al from last March, which we'd already seen. Reading between the lines of Mike's statement (which I think we've already read as well, and which IIRC in its original version also included something about Matt Jardine being someone he'd like to work with more) it looks more like Al's been in talks about joining Mike's band if Brian becomes unable to tour. Certainly given the number of dates rescheduled from this year to next for both groups, it looks unlikely that they could fit in even a "twenty to thirty date" reunion tour until 2022...

It's inconceivable that there won't be something to mark the 60th anniversary and hopefully all concerned parties will realise this and re-run 2012 by coming to some kind of accord, even if it's only something along the lines of 2018 Sirius XM Town Hall thing. 20-30 gigs ? That would be nice (proviso from absolutely every BB fan on the planet: as long as oner of them is in my home town) but even before the current CV19 situation, age could well have proven a factor... which is, of course, also a large factor in doing it. This is the last Big One, the last time it could work reasonably well (translation: not be embarrassing) and to that end (and like any of us have any say) I'd be in favour of some kind of filmed short residency with a DVD/streaming release. New album ? Ehhhhhhhhhhh... no, because there's no way the material or the performances could be as good as TWGMTR (and yes, I hear you - said album was at least 1000% better than it had any right to be so why can't lightning strike again ? Well, because it's eight years down the line and in any case I don't think the material is there any more... but what do I know ?).
Bottom line - 2021/2022 is the last time the band can do something/anything significant other than archival releases. Clock's ticking guys: check the ego at the door, get in a conference call without the managers and sort it out between you. Whatever, there will be a market for it, this one last time. The endless summer is winding down...

The old "definite maybe" - it is fine - there will always be a nice BB surprise - if I have learned nothing as a fan; it's that.

It looks like a lot of sites are just repeating the same story over and over today. I know a couple of younger people who write for content-driven sites & they have told me that they sometimes cobble together articles based on various quotes. This seems to me to be one of those cases. I’d love to be wrong, but not sure there’s really anything new here. This blurb was on MSN today: a.msn.com/09/en-gb/BB144ByF?ocid=sw

I can't really see what would be in it for Mike to participate in a reunion.
The expenses would be much higher again so I doubt he would make any more money, it would be a hassle to organize alongside his regular touring and, inevitably, he would be criticized and there would be confusion when he went back to touring with Bruce.
Not that I would be against it personally, but I will be surprised if it happens.

I think he'd do it for the simplest of reasons: he wants to. I think - I hope - in their hearts, they all want to. And this is the last time they can do it meaningfully.

Yes that is such a beautiful statement. I was about to write that word-for-word and I saw that you had written in already. The professor takes his hat off to his old friend Andrew. I wonder if the record company are planning on another compilation for next year. 60 songs for 60 years spread over two CDs would make sense (if they can squeeze them in).
The surviving members recording some interviews together to promote something like that may be more likely than an actual tour, I guess.

Live at Chelsea Hospital cancelled. Amazing it took so long to cancel that one, given the huge numbers of elderly at-risk people that would have been milling around there. Oh, and let's not forget the Chelsea Pensioners either!
Is a shame I won't get to meet up with Vale and AGD; perhaps another time.

Given that Sounds Of Summer is still selling (relatively) well, normally I'd argue not... but, with the magnitude of the anniversary looming, I'd be astonished if there wasn't some kind of release... or maybe just a retooling of SOS - the "Diamond edition", amyone ?

Q for AGD: Mike Love's website has no tour dates listed before July 17 in Mankato, MN. BBFC has a few dates listed before then, mostly because I haven't been able to find any cancellation confirmation. This thread has only the July 5 date listed before July 17, and the venue website still has it listed. I'm not sure where CA is in lifting concert attendance restrictions. Do you or anyone else here know for sure if those July CA dates have been cancelled?
I saw an article that said the San Diego Symphony was putting their opening at the Shell off for a year, does that include M&B's show too?

Yes, the grand opening of the new San Diego Shell, originally scheduled for July 10, has been pushed back to summer 2021. All 2020 performances have been cancelled, which includes The Beach Boys on July 13.

Iowa State Fair will make a decision by June 15th. Alcove Springs (August 1st) postponed to 7/31/21. And heres an odd one: the BB gig at the New Jersey PAC, Newark scheduled for March 12th 2022 has been cancelled.

Now that is bizarre. Makes me wonder if it’s unrelated to covid. That said it wouldnt take much for me to cancel a trip to Newark either
