I think Brian's band need a new principal vocalist... At least you get three Beach Boys for your money, rather than two.

Posting this both here and in the BB 2021 tour thread:
Given the current pandemic situation in the US and Europe, not to mention the age of the artists, I'd have to say that there's a very real (and increasing) possibility that the projected UK/European dates won't take place this year.

Got tickets for one of Brian's July UK gigs, but am not counting on any shows taking place anymore, especially now that the Glastonbury festival's been cancelled as well. Hate to be a pessimist, but can't see any 'normal' concerts/festivals happening before October, at the earliest. Main thing is Brian and band (and everyone else) stay safe and healthy obviously.

And I hate to add to the pessimism, but it wouldn't surprise me if we don't see Brian tour ever again. He's nearly 80 years old, seems to have increasing health issues like his back problems (I'm not certain the guy is even able to walk independently on his own anymore), and he was looking pretty frail the few public appearances we got from him last year. If he's truly up for continuing to perform and can handle it more power to him, but if he chose to retire and enjoy the rest of his years in peace I'd be okay with that. (Although I wouldn't complain if he chose to record an occasional song or two. 😉)

Totally agree, Awesoman. A belated welcome to the board, by the way! I know you go back quite a ways in BB fandom.

If you hit the "More" button, you get more artists. Jim Peterik is one. And oo... Todd. It's free, that's a great come-on.

That's true about the More button, but I still don't see Brian on the list anywhere.

The Royal Albert Hall website no longer lists Brian's July 4th show I have tickets for the show in Leeds (8 July), the Leeds Town Hall website, to my surprise, still had it listed when I checked a few days ago. Surely an official tour cancellation announcement will be made shortly?

Surely an official tour cancellation announcement will be made shortly? The Manchester show is still on sale too. The current government roadmap (as of Monday) has the twenty-first of June as the likely date that concert venues will be able to fully reopen -- with performances to 1000 or fewer people allowed before that. I suspect they won't cancel the whole tour unless and until that guidance changes.

I'd be extremely surprised if either tour goes ahead at all.

I'd be extremely surprised if either tour goes ahead at all. So would I at this point. But I suspect there won't be a cancellation until there's more clarity about the timescale for reopening (the government have been... less than accurate... with their predicted timescales for vaccinations, but have not yet acknowledged that with the reopening plans.)

The tour dates section on Brian's website has been taken down, which suggests some rescheduling may be in progress.
EDIT: The dates are still up on Al's website.

Just received an email to say the Leeds gig has been moved to Bradford, 21 June 2022. At least it's not a full tour cancellation. Will wait and see what happens next year.

On June 21st 2022 Brian will be 80 years and one day old... To be honest, and especially with that in mind, all I wish for is that next year Brian will be happy and in good health and having a wonderful birthday at home with his loved ones.

Currently Brian's only show this year. I'm sure others will follow.
