Maybe when SOS's summer spree dies down FF's release will rise?
A boy can dream can't he.

So people are actually buying copies of Sound Of Summer (either physical or by download) every week, not just streaming it? I would think all the old timers would already have all those songs by now, and the millennials wouldn't be buying something like this - they'd just stream the songs they want to hear, and only buy trendy physical releases on Record Store Day, or an occasional box set or vinyl Pet Sounds, but not SOS. Wish we could find out the demographics of these buyers...!
EDIT: just read AGD's comment on the prior page:
Sales - physical and digital - and streaming. Ten digital track sales or 1,500 song streams from an album are treated as equivalent to one purchase of the album. My guess is that the vast majority of the "sales" is down to streaming.

When my favourite band is in the charts, I get a hip and trendy glow of satisfaction… almost as though I follow a contemporary artist!

Thanks Steve. Hopefully stuff like this, and all the wealth of dedicated youthful members on the fan boards, will finally sooth the pearl clutchers who are all come over with the vapors constantly concerned that this or that has tarnished the legacy. #NotHoldingMyBreath

I don't see them fading away. Maybe, just maybe, people can learn to just relax and enjoy the great legacy of music they've created.

I think their legacy was etched in stone long ago. From the albums to songs to singing to tours the glory years of the ‘60’s thru mid seventies. The live shows up to ‘75. Some may include kokomo (ugh). Nothing they do now will change that. To me that is why the best selling beach boy albums are greatest hits. If the past 40 years or so didn’t damage a legacy nothing they do now will change it. To most fans the beach boy legacy were those first 15 years or so. How i see it.

I think most people will agree with this assessment, but there's a small vocal group of fans who think that, their legacy can be shattered by something as harmless as a remake of Do It Again that's already been largely forgotten about by most people.

Sam Beam will brighten your day. Best new artist of the last twenty years, without doubt. I'm diggin' the new explorer's club release, as well. Thinking about buying the covers album. Also recent. Jason gave us two projects in the same week.

Last two weeks:
128-156
Currently a chart run of 41 consecutive weeks, peaking at #85. Not bad for an album released over 17 years ago.
