‘Mommy, when I get to heaven will Dennis and Carl be singing the finished version of Holy Man?’

"Holy Man" is one of those songs that would have been great had Dennis finished it and recorded his vocal over the track. But I thought Taylor Hawkins' vocal was real good - he came close to what it woulda sounded by Dennis. Queen did a great job too to help finish the song. Dennis would be proud. It's cool that Dennis is being honored for his solo work for a second time on Record Store Day this year.

What’s interesting is that Caribou seem to be plugged into the RSD thing - last year Denny’s Bambu tracks and Moondog’s self titled; fingers crossed maybe some other archival or straight rereleases from the Caribou roster are on the cards.

Stephen Kalinich claimed in The Sun a few years back that it was blocked for legal reasons, so I assume that's all been sorted (https://www.thesun.co.uk/tvandshowbiz/4192795/beach-boys-queen-foo-fighter-song-holy-man-blocked/)

John Deacon wasn't there and Freddy checked out, so lessee, it was Brian May and Roger Taylor that helped to finish the song. They played at the Oscars the other night and were the best part of the whole thing. Brian May hasn't lost a step!
Hey, AGD, did you know that before Queen, May and Taylor were in a band called "Smile"?

Yes, I did... but I'd still like to know where you've heard the Hawkins/May/Taylor version of "Holy Man".

Yes, I did... but I'd still like to know where you've heard the Hawkins/May/Taylor version of "Holy Man". I guess I'm not surprised that no one else on the board has asked me about this. Some posters can say pretty much anything without push-back and B.S. can be taken as gospel. Just for shits and grins, though, do you think people in the general populous have not heard this? Has the tape been secured with lock and key since it was recorded, only to be heard by a select few? I think you'd be very surprised at what's out there circulating.

I hope to god that's the not the actual artwork. Same here - looks like someone finally upgraded their PC to Windows 10 and broke out the ol’ Paint 3D to create that masterpiece. Yuck.

Giant halo? UFO? Gandalf’s smoke rings? Circling mystical forces of the universe made visible? Whatever the f***it is supposed to represent, that image better be some high schooler’s homework and not real cover art.

I initially liked the version featuring only Taylor Hawkins on vocals that was originally found on the deluxe POB release. And while it's quite cool that the 2019 version throws in the contributions of *two* Queen members, I felt like the updated version overcooked the turkey just a tad. Sometimes less is more.
