Back at my "hobby forum" I have this silly bit of Yuletide fluff which I drag out every Christmas. Called "The Twelve Days of Beach Boys", it's set to this tune: For those with plenty of time on their hands (and/or no life) here are all twelve verses: On the first day of Christmas, the Beach Boys gave to me A day in the life of a tree
On the second day of Christmas, the Beach Boys gave to me Two cuckoo clocks And a day in the life of a tree
On the third day of Christmas, the Beach Boys gave to me Three moon dawgs Two cuckoo clocks And a day in the life of a tree
On the fourth day of Christmas, the Beach Boys gave to me Four Disney girls Three moon dawgs Two cuckoo clocks And a day in the life of a tree
On the fifth day of Christmas, the Beach Boys gave to me Five gold discs Four Disney girls Three moon dawgs Two cuckoo clocks And a day in the life of a tree
On the sixth day of Christmas, the Beach Boys gave to me Six surfers rocking Five gold discs Four Disney girls Three moon dawgs Two cuckoo clocks And a day in the life of a tree
On the seventh day of Christmas, the Beach Boys gave to me Seven Hondas roaring Six surfers rocking Five gold discs Four Disney girls Three moon dawgs Two cuckoo clocks And a day in the life of a tree
On the eighth day of Christmas, the Beach Boys gave to me Eight showboats crawling Seven Hondas roaring Six surfers rocking Five gold discs Four Disney girls Three moon dawgs Two cuckoo clocks And a day in the life of a tree
On the ninth day of Christmas, the Beach Boys gave to me Nine monsters mashing Eight showboats crawling Seven Hondas roaring Six surfers rocking Five gold discs Four Disney girls Three moon dawgs Two cuckoo clocks And a day in the life of a tree
On the tenth day of Christmas, the Beach Boys gave to me Ten winds a-blowing Nine monsters mashing Eight showboats crawling Seven Hondas roaring Six surfers rocking Five gold discs Four Disney girls Three moon dawgs Two cuckoo clocks And a day in the life of a tree
On the eleventh day of Christmas, the Beach Boys gave to me Eleven Rhondas helping Ten winds a-blowing Nine monsters mashing Eight showboats crawling Seven Hondas roaring Six surfers rocking Five gold discs Four Disney girls Three moon dawgs Two cuckoo clocks And a day in the life of a tree
On the twelfth day of Christmas, the Beach Boys gave to me Twelve Dennies drumming Eleven Rhondas helping Ten winds a-blowing Nine monsters mashing Eight showboats crawling Seven Hondas roaring Six surfers rocking Five gold discs Four Disney girls Three moon dawgs Two cuckoo clocks And a day in the life of a tree!thebeachboysforum.forumotion.com/t45-the-twelve-days-of-beach-boys

I heard the familiar strains of the tune "In Dulci Jubilo" on Dutch "classical" radio a few days ago and thought to myself, "Wouldn't it be nice if Mike Oldfield's joyously soaring guitar solo were to kick in". And then it did.

Whatever happened to this thread in 2021?? Anyway, here for your delectation are some Christmas tunes -- some familiar, some utterly obscure -- played on a Dutch street organ called Dolores:

I do remember following along with that thread a Christmastime long ago, John. Your "hobby forum", that's cute. As Bob said, "in the days when fans had their own websites."

I do remember following along with that thread a Christmastime long ago, John. Your "hobby forum", that's cute. As Bob said, "in the days when fans had their own websites." Ha yes. Well, it was never just mine. After we'd moved on to escape Tapatalk, there were basically just three regulars plus a faithful band of occasional posters. But it's non-functioning these days, since my moderator friend passed away. While I'm here... My Christmas album for 2022 technically isn't a Christmas album at all. Celestial Blue is a reworking by keyboardist Celia Garcia-Garcia of classical pieces for that magical instrument the celesta (as played by Bruce on "Girl Don't Tell Me"). Wonderful tinkly stuff -- you can almost feel the snow falling: www.youtube.com/playlist?list=OLAK5uy_lGP-I0_mgoszQVzcyUhUCbCVUhjAm1DIATo find out who wrote what (YouTube can be infuriatingly vague at times), click here.

It's about time to exhume this silly bit of Yuletide fluff I threw together years ago at my "hobby" forum. Called "The Twelve Days of Beach Boys", it's set to this tune:
This is what the twelfth verse looks like (the full-blown version is three posts ago):
On the twelfth day of Christmas, the Beach Boys gave to me Twelve Dennies drumming Eleven Rhondas helping Ten winds a-blowing Nine monsters mashing Eight showboats crawling Seven Hondas roaring Six surfers rocking Five gold discs Four Disney girls Three moon dawgs Two cuckoo clocks And a day in the life of a tree!

Little confusing but I was reading some Christmas best wishes from like 5 years ago, so I'll assume this is the most recent spot to jump in and say yes Merry Christmas to all of those of you who observe that holy day, and a Happy New Year to everyone. A belated happy Hanukkah as well.
And in general God bless us everyone. I come to this forum each and every day for information and fellowship and learning, and I could not be more grateful, so as we say goodbye to 2023, thank you all for being here and for your wonderful friendship, and I remain At Your Service for any kind of witty repartee and fun engagement with the history of the Beach Boys.
I am a very very lucky and grateful professor to have all of you as friends.

I am a very very lucky and grateful professor to have all of you as friends. This is indeed an old thread. I like to resurrect it every year, mainly to bump "The Twelve Days Of Beach Boys". No doubt someone will start a Yuletide thread in the main section soon. But I do thank you for your kind wishes and wish you a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year in return! I don't think anyone else has said it yet so I shall say it here: It's good to have you back, prof.
