Man, "Beach Boys Goodies" (1 & 2, 61 tracks) was available for download way back in 2007! Gotta be a fan-made bootleg all the way. Sounds like some "Oopsing" (out of phase) going on, resulting in a large collection of 'alternate' mixes of songs. This was of course before clean extraction technology was invented, but there's interesting stuff on this Mp3 collection anyway. Some rarities and unreleased stuff too. So yeah, #059 is '1985 Medley' and it was never formally released to the best of my knowledge. Beg to differ there as I certainly had it on 7" vinyl way back. Seem to recall it had an official label, but damned if I can recall anything else... or what happened to it ! Wow! Never heard of it before. Yeah, looks like it was a label-less 7" promo. www.discogs.com/The-Beach-Boys-Beach-Boys-Medley/release/8477279

Maybe it’s just me, but am I the only one who cannot listen to the 2012 50 Big Ones comp? I’m not sure why, but it’s just ear piercing

What was the reasoning behind releasing Caroline No as a BW solo single, considering the song is not exactly hit material (it's great and PS couldn't have had a better closer, but you get my point) and BW back then wasn't really a household name in the same way as, say, John Lennon and Paul McCartney? How did people (Brian, the suits at Capitol etc) react to its chart performance?
(I know Brian is the only Beach Boy present on the recording, so that part I get.)

Do we know exactly what was added to the tracks on the Honeys' 1980s LP "It's Like Heaven"? Obviously author-extraordinaire Rocky Pamplin's vocals on It's Like Heaven were replaced, and a horn added. Plus on She's Just Out To Get You, Ginger Blake is audible in the coda.
Do we know any specifics on the other stuff?

Two versions of "It's Like Heaven" were recorded, one with Rocky taking the lead, one with the girls. Ginger's on Facebook, you could ask her.

Somewhere along the line there was also the version with the female lead vocal and gruff male backing vocals on the chorus (Brian and Rocky?). It's been a while since I've listened to it, but I remember it sounded pretty close to the released version apart from the backing vox.

It was because they two strong single candidates at the time and it was part of a plan to release an occasional BB's song under one member's name. Brian mentioned Carl might be next (I seem to remember GOK was a possible). I assume they did it again with Gettin' Hungry.

Great info, Cam - I recall reading a TeenSet scan somewhere, maybe PSF, where Brian attributed the C-No solo to avoid BB market saturation, as they had a few releases kicking around or scheduled: ring any bells for you?

Tiger Woods' accident was on Hawthorne Boulevard.
Minor question: Coincidence or Deep State conspiracy?

But not in Hawthorne -- it was near Palos Verdes, which is closer to Long Beach than Hawthorne. In any case, I wish full healing for Tiger Woods.

Does anybody have the track list to the originally proposed single disc of Hawthorne, CA? I used to have a screenshot of it but I can’t seem to find it or the original source.

Who played on Loop De Loop? Carl Wilson, Hal Blaine and who else?
EDIT: Here’s what I could find Ukulele: Carl Wilson Moog Synthesizer: Paul Beaver Double Bass: Jimmy Bond Drums: Hal Blaine (funny story, mixed up a credit with Sail Plane Song, so I thought Carl played drums on this one instead. Whoops!) Tuba: Don Waldrip (or however it’s pronounced, my apologies if wrong) Have no idea about the rest. I’m guessing at least one of the Guitars is Al or Carl. Maybe Frank Capp played Glockenspiel? Who knows.

That’s unfortunate about Loop de Loop. Most of this info I got came from Craig. How did he know this stuff, how many overdub sheets were there??

Meanwhile, who played on Our Team? Better yet, who WROTE Our Team? The box set credits the band, I heard a copyright sheet credits Brian, Mike & Diane Rovell. Then there’s that clip on YouTube with Al playing part of it on piano. I dunno what to believe.

Also, iirc correctly, their cover of Seasons of The Sun (which btw doesn’t suck that much) had the following line-up:
Electric Guitars: Sonny Curtis & Michael Deasy Trumpets: Virgil Evans Bass: Lyle Ritz Drums: Earl Palmer
And someone on a Hammond Organ. Who could’ve that been?

Thanks! As for Al playing that on piano on YouTube, I think it’s safe to say he wish he wrote it. 😂

Hmmm... two questions related to I Just Got My Pay...
1. Who played on the track? From my understanding it’s the boys with a couple of trumpet players.
2. The track is credited to Brian, but on the Sunflower/Surf’s Up twofer it was said that it was “another Brian/Al collaboration” or something along those lines...

I've always seen "Pay" credited to Wilson/Love.
Annnddd... my ears aren't what they used to be, but I'm not hearing any horns.

I've always seen "Pay" credited to Wilson/Love. That would make more since. I don’t see Al writing some stuff like this. Regardless the lyrics just don’t sound like something Brian would write, at least to my ears.
