I'm giving the excellent MiC a 9. I would give it a ten if not for the repetition (a lot of hits, and the Smile section seemed a bit redundant coming two years after the Smile Sessions releases), and the absurdly high price for a six CD set. It was a lot of money - I did wait to get one less expensive, but there were some good ones as well on the early hits CD's. I really liked Our Car Club, Fallin' in Love and Sound of Free being included. I supposed if you didn't get the big box set - then the Smile tracks would be good to have. I love that era, but I'm not sure I want a steady diet of it. There is so much great stuff from the early 70's as well. BC RF Yes, there's always going to be repeats and do it again tracks. The nature of drawing in new casual fans that want more than a basic comp. I didn't buy the 2Cd SMiLE Sessions. Might one of these days. All of the boxed up sets are worth having. All of them! I have all of them, and the vinyl World Records Box, as well. How special was that when it hit the "hard to find" shelves? With the Brian projects record containing stuff I had not owned before! Think I paid about $75 (U.S. A.) in 1980's American dollars for a U.K. product. How much would that go for these days? And with shipping from England these days?!?! I found mine in Berkeley right after it came out.

I found mine in Berkeley right after it came out. One of the best comps is Best of The Brother years volume 3. Played the heck out of it. Shipping stuff is now insane. I do think the the downloads should come with a PDF of the book. Otherwise, you work in a vacuum with just tracks with no context. But that is fine, too. Interesting to have You need a Mess of Help...on this and I hate to call it SOS since Sail on Sailor, is SOS as well. It may be, that it is more date-driven, for copyright purposes - and that is the crux of these releases. It is very important that people maintain their intellectual property and I support that effort 100%. It is to protect “science and the useful arts” if I remember the terms correctly. I honestly don’t care if they have short and unfinished tracks, that they release just to protect them, because someone in their family could come along and develop the framework. Another pair of eyes and ears to finish the unfinished business.

I *loved* that Volume 3 compilation. Quite an awesome tracklist and hearing them remastered breathed new life into those songs. They were definitely going for a "vinyl" sound with that remastering.
