These Rules "...were found on a tablet, in a field, in Hawthorne, California":
- Threads and posts should stay on topic. Lengthy off-topic discussions may be moved or deleted
- Please refrain from confrontational posting and/or personal attacks. Members who are here to squabble or disrupt threads will receive a ban
- Report concerns to the Moderators. Do not take things into your own hands via posts or directed PMs. Either PM the moderators or use the Report Post functionality (this function triggers an auditable review process)
- Discussing bootlegs is OK, but trading and posting trading site information is prohibited.
- Posting links to SMiLE fan mixes is allowed (this rule is subject to change).
- Lifetime bans will be given at the discretion of the staff, and they will be based on the frequency and severity of previous bans
- Personal Messages are not to be shared with others outside of the personal message circle. This rule pertains to sharing within this forum or elsewhere. Direct personal threats issued in Personal Messages or on the board will not be tolerated. Violators will be subject to a ban for any infractions incurred
- Posting Screen shots of messaging published on external forums or websites is subject to review - if deemed inappropriate by the staff, a ban will be actioned
- Thread Headers: the first letter of each word must be capitalized for ease of reading
- Existing rules and any new rules are underpinned by the following Values:
- Respect and understanding when posting
- Freedom for members to voice considered opinion and fact based discussion about The Beach Boys and their history, as a band or solo entities, and freedom to respond in kind. This carries over to any considered criticism or review of media relating to The Beach Boys and associated artists
- Common sense and maturity in posting including a sense of when to move along
- We aim to provide objective moderation and support that considers the myriad individual backgrounds, cultures, upbringings, learned values and styles of interacting/communicating that exists in our broad membership.
- New rules will be added as needed, so please check back in here from time to time.

Dr. BB - I would encourage members to read the rule of the platform as well. It is a slog to read (like an insurance policy you don't read until you have to make a claim) but probably worth it.

I'd like to suggest, well, not exactly a rule but a protocol: that potentially contentious members not be granted automatic membership, but rather that it be put to a vote.Maybe such a move would have saved a whole mess of trouble recently.

Do you mean like the contentious banner over a similar new forum? (If you have seen it?) The red-orange swirl title? And, I'm not sure that solves anything with VPN's and multiple personality disorder that is a prevailing malady. All they need is a masked IP and different handle. Almost anyone with tech savvy-ness can do that in a minute and be undetected.

I agree. Maybe a member could offer something that the mods might not be aware of or didn't consider. And, maybe it could be done with PM's to the mods and the mods could report back if they wish.

It was just a joke from one of the members at SS. He has no intentions of starting another forum.

Perhaps it's better to implement a plugin to "approve" the pending registration before new member can actually post here, before this place is targeted by a bunch of spammers (like we had on PSF a year ago).

It was just a joke from one of the members at SS. He has no intentions of starting another forum. Yeah I know, but I don’t like what is written in it... That’s Peadar 'Big Dinner' O'Driscoll, formerly My Brother Woody. I believed the line on the bogus board was indeed a joke not intended to be offence. He stuck up for the “malcontents” royally when another SS member cruelly described those former PSF members as “a cancer”. That member later deleted the comment but only at Peadar 'Big Dinner' O'Driscoll’s insistence.

Yeah, what he said, I believe, is no offense, and he wished us (EHF) good luck anyway.

Thanks to My Brother Woody/Peadar - for addressing it as a type of parody. I later read that group of exchanges, and wondered "who thinks like that?" Is a difference in opinion that menacing to resort to that kind of rhetoric? (Off my soapbox, now) At any rate, most of us have safely landed in this safe harbor, at Christmastime, and the time of year the Wilson-Love families started an enduring tradition. Have a great day with your family and friends! Thank you, Dr. BB for making it happen! Merry Christmas everyone!

It was like I was Ebenezer Scrooge and awoke to find myself in a black void I saw coming, even had to go to the place I never go to just to try and find out what happened.
Since we are starting over yet again....I think being a member on various boards and moderating at any one of them in particular is a bad idea. It seems to me that it always ends in a wreck. IMO, best to stay loyal to one board at a time if you want to be involved behind the scenes. Not saying don't be a member of other boards...just referring to a moderators role specifically.
In any case glad to be here. My first post yet again!

Thanks, nice Charles Dickens reference. I really like "A Christmas Carol". Classic Christmas tale.

In any case glad to be here. My first post yet again! And a cautionary tale. That should now be a given - a duty of utmost loyalty. That is impossible, if holding mod positions elsewhere. If on another forum, stick with that one and be loyal, there. Sure post here - and/or there, but not in a position of board management. Unfortunately, it's the the same way you have to teach your kids; that not everyone is nice or is deserving of well-meaning trust. One can be cordial and courteous, and should be, without falling prey to others, who abuse the trust or unwittingly, and half-innocently betray information meant to be private. So, going forward, I think it supports the need to have very clear management-moderator boundaries, between/among this forum and others. What happens in Vegas...

Hi all - hope you're enjoying the weekend, like me! Dirk, Mikie and I have updated some of The Rules of the Land, and added a section about the values our forum aspires to follow (scroll to the top, or click the link below). If you are a regular poster, please take time refresh yourself with the updated rules and reflect on the values - if you are new here, please ensure you are across both. These rules and values are intend to support our Forum posters and create a level playing field fit suitable for respectful discussion. So, consider them as you would a friend, and take some time to get to know them intimately - they won't bite (although they might bite back! if handled roughly). Thanks for reading, and happy posting!!! endlessharmony.boards.net/thread/3/rules-land-eh-forum-values?page=1&scrollTo=3
