It is almost comical how the same board can have a thread like this, full of "Brian Wilson might as well be a corpse"-type posts, and the Glen Campbell thread promising a brand-new full-scale Brian Wilson production, mere hours apart.
This is the exact type of thing the OP was talking about in his great and refreshingly optimistic post.
Jeez, are BB fans ever going to learn their lesson about counting him out? It has been like this my *entire life*. I'm not so naive as to not realize that things are different now that he's in his eighties, but the presumption so many fans have that they know what's going on in Brian's head and life...

"Brian Wilson has made an impact in the business world through his affiliation with Harvard Business Publishing. His connection to the organization is evident in his feature in the Harvard Business Review and his role as a senior editor."

Well Steve, saying a certain member said “Brian looks and sounds like he will die soon” and that Brian is “corpse like” when nobody in this thread said any such thing needs to be addressed by the Moderators of this forum. What do you mean by “stifling enough”? We keep a very low profile in here. Most folks here moderate themselves. If you like anarchy, there is that place across the way. Just sayin’…

COMMENT to John Manning: I agree -- Brian is an excellent editor of musical phrase and lyric charm, but not of a business publication. But I could not strike the last paragraph and so let it go with an eye to an otherwise excellent review. Perhaps a mis-guided AI contributed to the article, as it sounds like it. Unfortunately, we had better get used this kind of stuff. As the election draws nearer, fact and fiction are going to blend, and sometimes with purposeful deceptive intention.
If truth be known, I was really just looking for a way to post that really cool endless surfer/wave image. ~swd

It's dry, sterile, hardly factual and looks as though it was written by some technical writer who maybe got through 6th grade composition. Brian is a very exciting guy and Harvard is close enough to Boston that the opportunity for someone on that board, or would have been able to see him perform live, was ample. This did not conjure excitement about the music. Big fat D in red marker from this teacher. Business publication? Yes, Mr. Desper the blend of fact and fiction. Or the propaganda of mis-information - dis-information. Brian is a senior editor?

The story is conflating two different people named Brian Wilson. Sounds like an AI screwup to me.

COMMENT: The article I posted was written in 2023. Further research turns up a similar article published in 2016. Both appeared in Harvard Business Review and both were written by Alison Beard. She is an executive editor at Harvard Business Review and previously worked as a reporter and editor at the Financial Times. She has authored hundreds of published works and is listed in Linkerdin. She probably has more than a 6th grade education and is not a computer.
The reference to Brian as an editor may be because he helped edit the original article, at her request. ~ swd Harvard Business Review (2016)

Mr. Desper - the writer may have more than a 6th grade level of education and don't doubt her credentials but most newspapers/magazines are written and targeted for that exact 6th grade reading level. And some supermarket tabloids are written at an even lower level so more people who struggle with reading comprehension will buy those newspapers/periodicals. Or even those old teeny bopper magazines from the record companies. When I read about this band, I want to learn something I didn't already know and see that other readers get some new reason to learn more about them. I suppose mileage varies. So it was a 2016 article that was recycled for 2023? And they talk about musicians recycling their music? 😂

From that Harvard Business thing:
"Collaboration with brands: Wilson’s partnership with companies like Coca-Cola and Volkswagen showcased his ability to merge music and marketing seamlessly."
'scuse me? I must have been taking out the trash when that happened. Anyone care to enlighten me?

'scuse me? I must have been taking out the trash when that happened. Anyone care to enlighten me? A 2012 Volkswagen campaign used "God Only Knows." A 2005 Coca-Cola campaign used "Little Saint Nick." The words "collaboration" and "partnership" are sometimes used loosely in the arena of corporate bullshit.

And who knows how many he drank during production
