I'm raising this point one last time, since it transpires that another ProBoards BB forum has succeeded in giving us (yes, I post there too) ten minutes' grace to edit out typos, factual errors etc before that infuriating "Last edit" message appears. If they can do it... Don't worry, I shan't ask again. Ok, I needed a plugin to accomplish this grace period for editing text. You now have 30 minutes to make edits before “Last Edit” appears in bottom right hand corner.Wow!!! Doc, you are a jewel among men. (Mikie too.) Thank you both!

What sort of fonts and formatting can be seamlessly cut and pasted to a post from Microsoft Word? Hopefully to prevent a lot of odd line spacing and such.
Asking for a friend.
Thanks,
Cam

Thanks, Cam Cam, I use Courier but I reckon you can use anything. The first step is to simply cut and paste it to the post. It took me a while to find out but the next step is to click on "BBCode" (Beach Boys Code?) and check the spacing there. Usually just doing this is enough. Then click on "Preview" to see the end-result and change whatever's necessary and then "Create Post". There's an additional escape mechanism these days. The good Doctor has now installed 30 minutes' grace to make corrections before you get the irritating "Last Edit" message. Lists of things are poor travellers from, say, Word to EH. But now you have all the time in the world to straighten them out. I hope this helps.

Thanks, jk.
Pasting into BB code seemed to work better than into preview but it might be my imagination.
Maybe it is different for everyone and every post but to me it seemed the native was verdana 10.5 pt and single spaced and landscape. Might also be my imagination or my limited trials.

What sort of fonts and formatting can be seamlessly cut and pasted to a post from Microsoft Word? Hopefully to prevent a lot of odd line spacing and such. Asking for a friend. Thanks, Cam Cam, sorry, just saw this. I subscribe to the "KISS" philosophy. When I create long messages, I create them in Microsoft Word where my default font is Times New Roman, size 11pt. Sometimes I set it to Arial, size 11pt. The default font 'family' for the text in this forum is set to Verdana, Arial, size 12pt. So after I write my message in MS Word, I copy it over to the "Create My Post" box on the board, and the default tab is "Preview". I then edit the post accordingly and the board does the rest. BBCode is a coding system that allows you to add features like text color and styling, add in word links, etc. to your posts and signature in your profile. I don't ever use BBCode as I'm not really an artsy fartsy kinda guy. Please tell your friend I said "Hello".

It could be the specific device you're using, perhaps?

Doc, you are a jewel among men. (Mikie too.) Thank you both! This is such a fantastic feature. Particularly now, when I'm organizing my long-winded posts about Baroque women composers, that half an hour is so handy for making last-minute factual and visual corrections, standardizing punctuation and weeding out silly mistakes. Thank you again!

Astonishingly, I was just now able to reformat an OP dated 10 May! Maybe it was a fluke. But if this is standard from now on, it opens up possibilities for, say, replacing videos that have been taken down rather than reposting them. H'mm...

But if this is standard from now on, it opens up possibilities for, say, replacing videos that have been taken down rather than reposting them. H'mm... It seems you can make some changes but not others! I repeatedly tried to replace a removed video with a message explaining its absence but it just couldn't be done. I could delete the video though (a blessing in itself) and inserted a message to that effect in the text (see here).
