Here's a cool instrumental by cut-and-paste merchants Finitribe, an outfit I discovered after borrowing a book about Scottish pop and rock from the local library. "Bagomatix 2 (There Can Only Be One)" comes from their splendid 1992 album An Unexpected Groovy Treat: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Finitribe

Well, while we're at it...I used to skip this track all the time. Just went on forever. But lately, it's become my favorite on the soundtrack album.

I am a big fan of Love Is Blue by Paul Mauriat. Beautiful melody and arrangement.

I am a big fan of Love Is Blue by Paul Mauriat. Beautiful melody and arrangement. I remember it well, Doc. Gorgeous tune--the sun comes out during part two. The Non-Brian Instrumental I've been obsessing about recently (this happens from time to time) is the stunning "And I Will Kiss" performed by Underworld and a goodly chunk of the overworld: Dame Evelyn Glennie on percussion, nearly 1000 (no typo this) drummers, a choir, an orchestra, a brass band and a steel band. The seemingly incongruous title for such a mind-bludgeoning affair is part of a quote from Shakespeare's The Tempest. (Oh see the wiki link for all other information why don't you.) The track takes nearly two minutes to get into gear--but once it does... en.wikipedia.org/wiki/And_I_Will_Kiss

I bought Jefferon Airplane's SURREALISTIC PILLOW not long after it had come out. Jorma Kaukonen's EMBORYONIC JOURNEY opened up possibilities for me. Not long after that, I wrote a few finger picking guitar pieces.

Not long after that, I wrote a few finger picking guitar pieces. Ha. I remember the OP proclaiming on several occasions that her only reason for liking "EJ" was that it got her pumped for the next track, "White Rabbit"! I like "Embryonic Journey", always have done. It was an oasis of peace in the hatchet job they originally made of Pillow in the UK.

I don't remember seeing Duane Eddy's "Peter Gunn" in this thread. (I will after today.)
Featuring Steve Douglas on tenor sax, this has to be heard on vinyl, preferably as a 45. CDs never do it justice!

My spies tell me that the OP's favourite non-Brian instrumental these days is "Mary's Theme" from the 1969 film Femina Ridens:

Back in '74 at the squat I had wormed myself into, I used to leave the radio on all night (the BBC closed down for a few hours) and be woken early by the tune announcing the start of a new day. "Theme One" was written and arranged by George Martin. This wondrous, otherworldly piece was just the ticket to gradually ease jk out of dreamland: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Theme_One

"THE RE-STONED are a Moscow based trio consisting of guitarist Ilya Lipkin, Vladimir Nikulin (bass) and Vladimir Muchnov (drums). The band has released one EP and three albums on the ambitious Russian RAIG label so far, each of them provided with a different flavour. That means instrumental music ranging from blues and southern rock inspired jams to a stoner and doom infected sound. Their 2011 release 'Analog' though gets very close to a flawless space rock production." [ Source] From that 2011 album this is "Crystals", which I discovered on a playlist at the OP's blog:

Still with the OP (albeit with a change of playlist), I was most surprised to see the name Gerhard Narholz among the composers listed in it.
Herr Narholz is a name from my murky past. Back in 1969-72, I worked (using the term loosely) on the fringes of the music business in a music library (by then a dying breed) that hired out specially recorded music mainly for commercials and TV shows. We recorded almost all our music in Germany; Gerhard Narholz would compose much of it and he and his orchestra would play it.
Anyway, this is his composition "Cha Cha Nova", recorded "in the sixties" and played by the Hamburg Studio Orchestra directed by Rolf Kuhn (with thanks to commenter MrXnews2 for that information). Take your partners, please:

Primal Scream's sumptuous "Inner Flight" from their 1991 masterpiece Screamadelica has a Brianesque feel to it without sounding merely imitative. Music to float off on... en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Screamadelica

Something to set the party on FIRE! Hey Alan, shouldn't this be in the adult movie soundtrack topic? Solid stuff, at all events.

Isn't it a video made to look like a movie, but not a movie. Gamers must love it! Okay... back to looking for the idol. This music is distracting me.

The first time I heard this I was very stoned on thai-stick. On the Ummagumma album, I had never heard the "Point Me at the Sky" single - that wasn't released in the States. My friend had a big surround sound 4-speaker setup in a dark room, only a candle near the turntable so he could see how to change the records. It scared me good. They were still a new enough group to not expect what you would get on the next track.

I bet Tarantino is spewin’ he didn’t come up with something like this. Another good B-Grade movie vid accompanies Knights Of Cydonia by Muse - off topic as it isn’t an instrumental, so I won’t link it (https://youtu.be/G_sBOsh-vyI)

Something to set the party on FIRE! Sorry… just a poor rip off of Two Lane Blacktop. I mean, where’s the broodiness? The world supply of broodiness was exhausted by the makers of Two Lane Blacktop; since then we’ve living like lost souls waiting for a new world to hatch.
