Robin, I trust that Brian chose the correct person to sing lead on the songs that he wrote and produced. I don't need someone using AI to screw around with those decisions. If Brian wanted himself on God Only Knows for instance, he would have done so. It's not like he had an issue singing most of the leads on Pet Sounds. As I said earlier, I'll take my Beach Boys REAL and ORIGINAL, warts and all. Brian did originally choose Dennis to sing on "You're So Good to Me," but Dennis was in no shape to sing at the scheduled session. I guess rather than reschedule, Brian decided to just sing it himself. It would be interesting to hear an AI version of Dennis singing Brian's original decision. (But, in my opinion, they're nowhere near there yet, as far as AI generating believable vocals.)

AI written Beach Boys lyrics couldn’t be any worse than Landy’s lyrics or some of Mike Love’s late period could they? '..... As far as I'm concerned, Mike has earned my respect as an accomplished songwriter. Sure, some of his more recent outings aren't all that interesting or groundbreaking, but Landy — even on his best day — wasn't even in the same conversation as Mike on his worst day.Perhaps....mmmm maybe.... I know this was meant to be in good spirit, but 'Yikes', not Mike's strongest moment.

My main, and major, beef with all these recent BB AI videos is that if you need to be told who you're supposed to be listening to, it's clearly no damn good. On a par with an impressionist saying, for example, "and now let's hear from Richard Nixon": he's gotta do that, he's clearly a crap impressionist.
Of course, in a few years it'll be unbelieveably better, but currently, I can't understand people saying of, for example, "Paul" singing "God Only Knows" that it's amazing, they can't believe how wonderful it is. It's not. The only amazing part is how bad it is, how utterly unlike who it's supposed to be. Anyone who truly believes that sounds anything like JPMcC, I've got the deeds to this bridge in New Amsterdam going cheap...

not AI, but it sure sounds great. please stay off your bat-phones trying to get this stuff removed.
I love the original, too. Always looking back with love.

All I'm waiting for is an AI extraction stereo mix of "Bull Session With The Big Daddy".

I'm waiting for the day this thread quietly disappears to be honest. I don't want no AI messin' with The Beach Boys..... Just sayin'.......

I'm waiting for the day this thread quietly disappears to be honest. I don't want no AI messin' with The Beach Boys..... Just sayin'....... Yeah here's hoping the novelty of this thing wears off. I do admit it's *kind of* fascinating to hypothetically hear how classic well-known songs might sound like under different voices but you'll never beat the authentic real thing. Of course AI can still be kind of fun as a novelty alone. Honestly what I'd like to hear solely for my own amusement is pairing songs with unconventional vocalists. Let's get Bob Dylan singing Michael Jackson or Peter Cetera singing Nirvana. That would be far more entertaining to me than making robot John Lennon sing a typical Oasis song.

Strange thing is I am pretty sure I saw the official Brian Wilson Twitter account share that "Beatles" rendition of God Only Knows. Likewise, I think David shared it on the ESQ feed too. I always share the posts of the members. It wasn't an endorsement, it was just a 'share' and judge for yourself.

I don’t have a huge interest in AI imitating existing artists (and the whole deep fake thing is surely about to get out of control) but I do think AI generated original music is an exciting prospect. More exciting than humans going round and round the same old structures and riffs for years anyhow. And the possibilities in purely electronic music are fascinating.

Me too. Lennon's piano and vocal parts are not extracted properly, and run at the wrong speed as well.

I know they worked a little on this track in the 90's as the third "new" Beatles song but ultimately passed on it since it needed too much work. Apparently George outright vetoed it so I'm not even sure he recorded any guitar parts for it. Here's hoping that AI isn't used simply to create faux experiences such as creating "new" music by deceased artists. Instead I hope it is used for more practical purposes such as separating or isolating all the missing individual tracks for songs like "Good Vibrations" or "I Get Around" in a similar fashion such as Giles Martin did in his recent Beatles remixes.
