And another interview from Nolan Carr, but with Jon Stebbins. Interesting to hear he does not have a 'stake in The Beach Boys anymore' and he
has been stepping back from the group since about 2015. There are some undertones that must have happened, but he doesn't go into detail. Another casualty of war and one of the good guys too. I've always enjoyed his work.
He doesn't seem to hold a lot of faith for a 60th reunion at this point in his own admitted cynical opinion.

Like many of you I had the pleasure of some back-and-forth communication with Jon and he is a Class Act and a Gentleman and someone so humble and thoughtful and really enjoy his books. He seemed to imply something that Alan had already said, that something is in the works but these things are in doubt until they actually happen. I was surprised by this because I thought he would simply say oh of course I know nothing and don't think they're planning anything. But perhaps Dave told him that they were working on something and it was still to be seen if it were were to come to fruition. That would square with what Al has said. But I'm just basically trying to put together bits of implication and suggestion here.

I hope Jon eventually releases his updated version of The Real Beach Boy. Easily the best book on Dennis. Of course, I'm only aware of one other.

Yes and the lost Beach Boy was supposed to have a reissue with the all-important last chapter talking about the reunions. Premise of the lost Beach Boys is that Dave made peace in his mind and heart with his beachboy history but it was written before the reunions, and since John is a big fan of the reunions he would know how to chronicle it and have it be a triumphant moment in Dave's personal history and in the history of the band. But if all five of them are on stage again sometime over the next year, then it would make sense to wait for that to actually occur before finalizing the revisions of that book.

Good for him.
Stebbins is a good writer. Talented beyond the realm of the rock star biography. I hope he’s onto bigger and better things.
