That’s great.
How was the show? Any interaction with Chicago?

That’s great. How was the show? Any interaction with Chicago? The horn players from Chicago came out and played on Darlin'. Brian sang very few leads. And some of his leads were picked up by the others halfway during the song. And it broke my heart when he came out using a walker because it was obvious that he was in pain. But he keeps telling all around him that he wants to be out there on the road. I respect that.
I will say that Blondie did a BLISTERING version of Wild Honey. Listen to the 1972 live version on MIC, then imagine it cranked up 20 times. It was great. Then he did Long Promised Road. When he announced what song he was doing, I was about the only one yelling YES. You could tell not many knew the tune. Of course he finished with Sail On Sailor. Darian of course was spot on with Darlin' and I Can Hear Music. Al was having voice issues and was very hoarse. I enjoyed the show, just felt a tinge of sadness.

We are in a new world. There is so much adaptive equipment, now, so that if someone wants to perform, they do. Chuck Negron is on oxygen using something called oxyview - because he knows he wants to perform and it is a barrier with his oxygen needs. He has the tubes wired into his glasses and an oxygen concentrator backstage. www.chucknegron.com/shop/bio/oxyview-oxygen-therapy-glasses/So, Chuck took the bull by the horns and is still out there. I think we should be prepared to see these “adaptations” going forward on stage if we want to see our best musicians. I think he has that “Carl attitude” of getting out there, no matter what. It is tough for us to watch, but tougher if he sat back and gave up being in front of live audiences. They could give up and sit on a beach. I am 💯 good with all of this. And am very happy you got to see them perform. Your photos, as always, are brilliant! Thank you! 🎶

Great photos! The show you attended sounds just like the one I saw in Kansas City. I thought maybe Al being hoarse was just him having a bad night in KC, but I guess not. Blondie though - wow - what a performer! Seeing him perform Wild Honey live has been a dream of mine since I first saw the video of him singing it on YouTube. He did not disappoint. I as well did feel a tinge of sadness seeing Brian look so fragile. Still - He is Brian effin’ Wilson and it is a gift seeing the man live. Glad you got to go. Thanks for sharing!

Have seen a few clips from recent gigs and have to say that it appears things have been ramped up considerably, and that Blondie’s turning the dial to overload.
When I saw BW in Glasgow in 2016 (or was it the Glastonbury Extravaganza in 2017?), the performance of Wild Honey was laboured, felt like it just went on too long for the band and they seemed tired of singing “Bee, bee, honey bee/eat, eat it up, eat it up a-wild honey”. (Please forgive errors in transcribing the lyrics from my head).
Now it’s rocking like it was the early ‘70s again… I want to experience this band all over again!
