Saddened to hear of the recent (last week) passing of Cathal Coughlan who found infamy as lead singer of Microdisney (working with one Sean O’Hagan, who in the late ninities was in talks to collaborate with BW and the BB’s) and then notoriety with the heavier edged Fatima Mansions.
Cathal’s last solo effort - Songs of Co-Aklan - is a worthy listen. RIP Catahal

I know of Cathal from Abbott's Pet Sounds book, in a quote from Sean O'Hagan (my page 105):
"Special mention should be made of the person who introduced the album to me 20 years ago [c. 1980], Cathal Coughlan [formerly of Microdisney, recently of Fatima Mansions], an act for which I will be eternally grateful."
Shamefully, the only CC track I'm familiar with is The Fatima Mansions' "ode" to one of my heroes, Gary Numan:
Lovely song. Damn, sixty-one is no age to die. Rest in peace, sir.

Here's that wonderful voice providing lead vocals on Sean's most recent album. A typical O'Hagan composition with delightful trademark key shifts and chord progressions.

Sad news. I just discovered Microdisney a year or two ago and fell in love with Cathal's voice. T'is a shame there'll be no more collaborations with O'Hagan.
