'She' can't sing, and 'Him' can't either.

Fabulous! I have been a huge She and Him fan for years. Video is awesome, a very refreshing throwback to a simpler time. Typical great unplugged sound, like On The Island and the version of GOK they did with Brian. Wish the tour was closer to me! BTW, Zooey’s dad Caleb shot the GV promo video, there is a picture on the net somewhere with Caleb holding a camera next to Brian. So her love for the band and music is certainly legit! It is so amazing that Brian and the band’s music is being covered, freshened, preformed live, and being brought to new audiences 50 years later.

Love She & Him, their second album is fantastic and you should give it a listen.

Disappointed that they didn't include Long Promised Road. The album title is a clue... but yet they covered a Bruce Johnston song.

Which has an "official" BW co-write (even if the reality is he contributed nothing to the finished song). I'm guessing they just went by credits, not history.

I'll give the album 1 of of 5 stars at this point, just for being creative with their song selection. The fact they are attempting and doing some real deep cuts, is enough to still keep me intrigued how they attempt to pull them off. 'Good To My Baby', 'Kiss Me Baby', 'This Whole World', 'Heads You Win'?.... Like seriously? 'Heads You Win'? Has any other artist ever covered 'Heads You Win'? A great set of tunes, I commend them there. Please! I hope they don't massacre the rest of these songs.

Just watched the video and agree that She and Him's approach took all the spirit out of "Darlin'." Matt Jardine and Carnie Wilson's live take on this celebratory song has spoiled any other duo's version for me.
I'll probably get the album at some point, tho.

That....was one of the worst things I've ever heard in my life. I'd rather listen to the 1978 Perth version.

Brian did cowrite it with Bruce.
Wasn't it just a couple of words, and Bruce wanted to have a song co-written with Brian so Bruce gave Brian credit on the song? I remember very clearly reading an interview with Bruce in 'Record Collector' years ago. He stated that Brian's contribution to Deidre was as follows:
My friend Bob He had a jobWhether Brian subsequently wrote more lyrics, Bruce didn't say, but he did state clearly how desperately he wanted Brian to have a credit, for Brian's sake more than his. So it may be that none of Brian's lyrics made it onto the final version.
And what a song that would have been if Bruce had gone with Brian's idea! 'Deidre' somehow never seemed the same again to me.

That....was one of the worst things I've ever heard in my life. I'd rather listen to the 1978 Perth version. Come on now… worst ever in your life? I’m a fan of theirs and admittedly it’s a weak cover for them, but there are literally thousands of songs I’ve heard that make this sound like a masterpiece. Turn on any hip hop station right now and give it 20 minutes if you don’t believe me. You will hear the same canned fake computer created ‘music’ along with the worst ‘singing’ you might imagine containing some preposterously vulgar lyrics. Or, think back in time…. Muskrat love? Afternoon Delight? You Light Up My Life? A bad cover of a Brian Wilson song still blows so many to smithers. I think the horrible video is making this seem worse. That said, M Ward’s style does not suit this and it should not have been a duet to start with. On their second Christmas record, they did the boys Christmas Day and it’s decent but there was a live version from I think Jimmy Fallon’s show a couple years ago that was really cool. Ward’s guitar/amp was killer. Many of their covers sound great IMO …. This just isn’t one of them.

Agreed, there's far, far worse stuff out there - Wet Leg springs to mind, or anything by that **** Morrissey - but in terms of what's been done to a classic BB track bursting with passion, energy and above all fun then yes, it's utterly unforgiveable.

One thing it has given me, a greater appreciation for what I once thought was really bad...

I thought Los Lobos' cover of Sail on Sailor was lifeless, but this takes 'lifeless' to another level.

'She' can't sing, and 'Him' can't either. It is kind of tricky. I consider myself highly spoiled-rotten because I heard Carl Wilson, himself, do Darlin’ and Wild Honey, live, before the LP was released. That said, I sort of wondered how this music might live on. And, had to listen twice to give it a fair trial of sorts. Just covering the music is a salute to the music, so I can’t get crazy over the fact that it does not possess the visceral soul-filled delivery of the Great One. If you just heard the audio, it is not that bad and a cover tribute. On the other hand, I was waiting for Sha-Na-Na to jump out with that other cover. OMG.

Wow. Judging from many of the comments here, M. Ward ran over someone's dog, and Zooey gave him the driving directions...

I can clearly hear those amazing voices chanting “Bob’s job” to the chorus melody! doo doo do-do-do doo…

As long as there is less M Ward, and let Zoey be the 'talent' that there is of the two members. I sure hope they have chosen the song keys more wisely than what they did with 'Darlin', because it doesn't suit either 'so called' singer. Surely they couldn't butcher a whole bunch of Brian Wilson songs.... Surely?

Okay gang! Here we go for round 2 on 'She and Him'. Let's pick the eyes out of this baby. 'Wouldn't It Be Nice'. At the moment, I'll bite my tongue and let others speak first.
