I'd say mid-to-late 80's, around the time when Brian collaborated again with Gary Usher. In The Wilson Project book it's discussed they used a Linn 9000, I believe!

Or possibly Steve Levine ? Granted, Usher is a far more likely candidate. Wonder if it was found by the side of the road...
Edit: hmmm... the LM-1 was introduced in 1980 and was succeeded by the superior (and cheaper) LinnDrum two years later. Would Usher still be using such "old" technology, even in his home studio ?

IDK but in the Wilson Project, the name Linn is mentioned almost as many times as Tom Kelly.

Brian was a pioneer of drum machine use.
For awhile in 1970 he seemed to use the Maestro Rhythm King on every track!

We all know the three advantages of a drum machine over a drummer, don't we?

We all know the three advantages of a drum machine over a drummer, don't we? Is one of them that a drum machine doesn't end up sleeping on your floor for three weeks when his girlfriend kicks him out?

Is one of them that a drum machine doesn't end up sleeping on your floor for three weeks when his girlfriend kicks him out? That's actually a fourth one. The three main ones are 1) it keeps a steady beat, 2) it doesn't eat your fridge empty and 3) it doesn't bang your girlfriend.
