And "Cotton Fields" preceding "Pom Pom Play Girl" doesn't make it any less weird. |

Yeah, for the big deluxe edition of their best selling in recent times greatest hits compilation, it sure has some bizarre inclusions and exclusions.
Baby Blue, can’t wait too long, California Feelin, Everyone’s In Love With You… but no Little Honda, Caroline no, Catch a Wave or Hawaii.
It’s certainly an interesting set of tracks

He talked about how technology has improved since 2012 in ways that they could comfortably sync up the stereo backing track to isolated mono vocals. Can't say I'm a fan. The first stereo mix of the track was better, crisper. This one is a bit woolly. Would have been better to use Brian's mono mix.

The Vibes mix is available to stream on iTunes and Amazon; rest of the track list currently greyed out.
iTunes says release due June 17, as suggested by Delistandsuppress, above.

I'm doubting that these two - I Get Around (2021 Stereo Mix) Surfin' Safari (2021 Stereo Mix) - are what they say they are. With the exception of an outttake on the 1983 Rarities album, none of the Surfin' Safari tracks have been released in stereo. We'll see... Yeah... first thing I noticed. Extraction mixes maybe..... Is anybody getting the feeling it's starting to become a remix overkill, especially when some of these have been tackled a couple times already? I mean, is it really necessary for 2021 remixes of things like Surfin USA, Fun Fun Fun, In My Room, Don't Worry Baby? It's getting to a point it's hard to know what the 'go to' mixes are... Are these going to be the new additions to the famous Linett bottom end distorted boom with treble nose bleed high end's drenched in reverb mixes? |

From the press release on BW.com: “Following the release of Sounds of Summer, this fall Capitol/UMe will release the next chapter in The Beach Boys’ archival releases, which will explore the bands often overlooked but pivotal albums, 1972’s Carl and the Passions – “So Tough” and 1973’s Holland. The deluxe multi-disc set follows last year’s acclaimed boxed set Feel Flows – The Sunflower and Surf's Up Sessions 1969-1971 that topped many critic’s year-end lists and chronicled and explored the metamorphic and highly influential 1969-1971 period of the band's [ career through tons of unreleased tracks, live recordings, radio promos, alternate versions, alternate mixes, isolated backing tracks and a cappella versions, culled from the album sessions. More details will be revealed at a later date.” |
