Just getting around to registering, although I have been lurking here for a few years. I have been reading/posting on BB boards since the mid 90's. My first board was the Mike Wheeler page. I had always been a BB fan, but the Good Vibrations box is what moved me to hard core fan status. I bought my firs CD player so I could listen to it. I keep telling my family there are fans who make me look casual but they don't believe it. I posted a lot at the Cabinessence board and took my lumps from the regulars b/c I was a new fan and at first believed some of the misconceptions. My favorite albums are Today, Pet Sounds, Sunflower, and as solo goes POB. Surf's Up would rank there if it had include WIBNTLA and another DW song or two. Fave songs are I Get Around, GOK, live version of Wild Honey, live Marcella, Its About Time, live What'd I Say, Maybe I Don't Know, and WIBNTLA. The extended version is a revelation to me- I could listen to an hour of that jazzy outro.
As much as I love the FF box, I am really stoked about the possibility of a live early 70's set. I belong to that small set of fans who wished they band had rocked a little harder. Or, released more songs that rocked a little harder.
I am a history teacher/rancher in Texas.
I used to post a lot at the Smiley Smile board, but left b/c of some philosophical differences:) Probably won't post here much, but I will always be reading. I truly appreciate the insight and depth of knowledge here.
May be stupid, but I have this recurring dream that I go to an out of the way record shop and find all of these BB bootlegs. But I always wake up before I can listen to them or clearly see the tracklisting.
PS: About 30 years ago I bought my first copy of POB from a superfan in Waco, TX. Got it by advertising in the BB fan club newsletter. If by chance you are here, thanks! It was a defining moment in my fandom.
