Oooh, Alan, nice touch, a Winery tour, exquisite! You kiddin'? I'd hitchhike on foot interstate to see Al, the band and the show! What an experience! Some wonderful venues around, great sound acoustics, seat 250 - 300 people or so.... Cold beer and a red wine or 3?... Halleluiah!

Glad everything turned out alright at the recent show. Lineup is very similar to CSI which is interesting. Always good to see Eddie doing backing vocals too!

Actually it was Matt's idea to continue to have the show. Bobby, Eddie and Debbie were already there for the gig to happen and they called Randell and Probyn that morning of - and they showed up 3 hours later to do the gig and then drove home the same night. There was a one hour soundcheck where they put the show together right then. I think they did a great job. The promoters said they were happy it got pulled off, and were so impressed by the dedication of the band they said they might have to bring everyone back again next year and try it again.

Thanks for the insights of how this gig came together and how some of the band got there! I know Bobby is across the classic BB stuff, but how much warning/practice did Bobby get for the 'Wilsons' material - or did he just have to roll with it at the soundcheck? Is Bobby gonna be involved at the next appearances?

Al has increased his Storyteller shows to adding Eddie and Bobby on them now, so they are now a five piece with Debbie Shair.
The guys didn't do any of the Wilson Phillips stuff since the girls weren't there for the show. They decided not to come to stay safe health wise since Matt and Probyn had just come off the Brian Wilson tour and had been on the same bus as Al. Also Debbie because of Darian could have been comprimised so they didn't want to risk it. Understandable actually. The show was just the "meat and potatoes" show. All the BB hits. Bobby and Carnie worked out all the parts back in FEB for their stuff, so he's got that down.

Oh wow! I'm hoping to see them in Chicago on the 29th. Just have to find someone willing to drive in the city. I swear his band is like a little supergroup.

I know the entire band would love to do more shows. Al and Matt are really gung ho on getting more work and hopefully that will happen. There is another show being added in December after the Cincinnati gig. I think its in Florida? Details on it I don't have yet. I know I personally would love to tag along on a trip to Melbourne. ;-)

Fred was there last night, introducing Al in the same way he introduced The Beach Boys back in the day.

How was the show? And was a great to see Al playing the stand-up bass? Was there any trouble with the Reverb or the pedals-- to refer to a couple glitches I've seen in some previous shows over the years? Last time I saw Al and Matt there was a tremendous warmth intimacy and really great feeling in the house. quote author=" lonesurf" source="/post/62406/thread" timestamp="1670520284"]Fred was there last night, introducing Al in the same way he introduced The Beach Boys back in the day. The show was great. Just Al, Matt, Ed, Bobby & Debbie. The stand up bass didn’t make this trip.
Set was roughly chronological, with lots of stories, laughter and asides. Al was in fine voice.

Clermont show: I got tickets after seeing it on this thread. Tragically, I got the stupid virus end of last week and couldn't go. However, my nephew lives a mile from the venue and went instead. He sent some video snips which were amazing. Carnie sang lead on GOK, Al and Matt were in perfect voice. Ed Carter played bass. I first saw him play with the BBs in Lakeland in 1978! I'll talk to him in the next few days and report what he said about the show. Amazing these guys are still going and so strong.
